Williamsburg Christian Academy will defend their State championship after defeating Carlisle 85-76 at Virginia State University. Dashawn Cook and Malachi Banks both had 20 points for Williamsburg Christian while Rashawn Cook had 17 and Clevon Greene added 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Eagles led by 12 points after the 1st quarter but Carlisle cut the lead to six at halftime. A dunk by B.J Fitzgerald tied the game at 46 with 3:52 to go in the 3rd quarter.
Williamsburg Christian twins Dashawn and Rashawn Cook tuerned up the pressure and helped the Eagles regain the lead 59-46 late in the 3rd quarter.
Fitzgerald went off in the final stanza scoring 15 of his game-high 39 points in the 4th quarter. He was fouled while draining a 3-pointer and converted the 4-point play to bring the Chiefs to within three (59-56). They pulled within tgwo on a layup by Moses Nuangki.
However, Carlisle could not get any closer as RaShawn Cook scored on back-to-back layups in the final minutes.
