Ok I have seen the error of my ways and decided to just show current points (or my best guess at them anyway). I suppose moving forward it wont matter because VHSL will be putting the points out starting next week, correct? Anyway this is at least something to have an argument or two over.

Region A
1. Northumberland (3-0) 18.00
2. K&Q (4-0) 17.50
3. Rappahannock (3-1) 17.00

8. Mathews (1-3) 8.75

Region B
1. Riverheads (3-0) 20.00
2. Wm Campbell (3-1) 17.50

6. Hurley (2-2) 14.00
7. JI Burton (2-2) 13.75
8. Honaker (2-1) 13.00

I'm not certain about all the others but I know you're off on K&Q. Right now they have 76 points for 19.0 rating. 16+18+16+16=66. 0+4+6+0=10. 76. I'm pretty certain they received no rider points for Blessed Sacrament Huguenot's win over Randolph Macon Academy as RMA is not recognized by the VHSL

I have a question, the math shows Galax at 19.50
I have them at 20.00 - I am probably wrong lol.

18 for Glenvar class 2
18 for Martinsville. class 2
20 for Carroll County class 3
16 for Rural Retreat class 1
8 rider points
80/4 20.00

Am I off here? No big deal, I am just curious as I would like to be able to do the calculations correctly through out my head in how the scenarios could play out.

Thanks again in advance

I will check the spreadsheet again but honestly you guys are probably right. I am usually not right until the second to last week of the season, lol. It’s close but I invariable make mistakes

Please don't think I was fusing. I was just trying to make sure I was doing it correct. Thanks again for the work you put into it.

Thanks to all that take the time to try and figure it out. I don't have the time or patience to even begin to try to do that

I was under the impression Portsmouth Christian has 3 wins. they played an early game (Aug. 24) vs. Fredericksburg Christian and won it. That game isn't included on the VHSL master schedule.

That would be considered a scrimmage then. Only games on master schedule are counted games

Portsmouth Christian does have 3 wins. Private schools started their regular season a week earlier than public schools. PC is currently 3-2.

I saw where they are 3-2, and I am only used to doing 2a points and don't see them playing those schools, but I am under the impression that only games on master schedule count towards the ratings

PC has a 10-game schedule and there's only 9 on the VHSL master. I suspect it not included because of the Aug. 24 start

I get what you are saying, but VHSL determines a start date for games to start counting, i.e. start of Master schedule. I could be wrong, and like I said never ran into it in 2a, but I have been doing it a long time.

It's hard to tell because it was really early in season, but it was the only one I could find from last year. It appears that early games did not count as of Oct 3rd last year for the 1st set of Ratings.

Its really no different than teams in NC playing 11 games, yet only 10 count for VA. Again I could be wrong, but the VHSL uses the master schedule to do their ratings, which does not include those early games for private schools, just as they don't count benefit games on the same day

@Gunz41, I appreciate you jumping in. I can see I still have some work to do before I get this down. I feel I am on the trail but I might just be back tracking, lol. No rest for the wicked so it’s back to the drawing board.

Is Middlesex power points not listed solely because they are ineligible for playoffs? I'd still like to know what their power points are. It helps when figuring out matchups with teams they will play the rest of the season. Not that I want to put more work on you. :)

I'm pretty certain that's why they are not included. I have them at 16.5. They have beaten just one team with a victory (Mathews).

As a follow up, I had Carrol Co as 2A for some reason (lol) so that was the issue with Galax, which is fixed in the calculations now. As for K&Q, I did not have any win total for Portsmouth Christian so that was the discrepancy with that rating. I appreciate the feedback and ask that you all continue to hit me with what you have when you find a mistake. It is a pia to find out of state stuff for NC and TN and private schools here in VA so any help with where you guys get that info would be most appreciated. Thanks again for the heads up on the ratings that were wrong.

I appreciate you taking the time doing this. It is very helpful for those of us who like to analyze the upcoming matchups.

The sad thing is by looking at this unofficial ratings (elsewhere) if the playoffs were Friday night every game would be a regular season rematch. I'm like HR6!!! Hate playoff rematches unless its for a championship!

@The Gridiron Guru, that's why for me the East/West split with 16 getting into each was better. It produced some crossover games that were longer trips but better games. I know budgets for traveling were a problem but it sure was fun while it lasted.

You know I liked the 16 better. The funny thing is that when SD made their run to Semifinals in 2016, 2 of the 4 teams they played are in their region. Nottoway in A, and Richlands in D. In fact, I believe that every year that they made it past 1st round they played someone a 2nd time

In region C I think people are forgetting Grayson Co who is 1-3 with a win over a 3AA school. They have played in 4 straight 1 point games they should be 7th or 8th

I’m pretty sure Grayson is a 2a school
No...they dropped to 1A this year. Grayson hasn't played the toughest schedule and have only won one game but all the games have been close. Unless they have some major improvement through out the year I don't think they will make much noise come playoff time.

@Girls -BBall Fan, Grayson is in 7th at 9.50. I had them with a loss to West Wilkes instead of the win which had them outside of the top 8. That drops Bath off the top 8. Thanks for pointing this out.

To be clear two losses have been by 1 point (7-6 and 21-20) and the loss to Rural retreat was 15-7 so not a lot of points given up but not a lot scored either. Improvement can happen but likely not going to be a big mover over the last weeks of the season with 5 tough games still left on the schedule. Does anyone know what they are doing about the open date left that was against Bland?

Grayson dropped to 1 A and has a win over West Wilkes which is a 2A school.

Grayson has a good chance to win out until the George Wythe game In week 9
To be honest I don't see them beating Auburn and I think Fort might give them all they want as well, Marion is a toss up.

3-3 would be a good split in the next 6 with me including the Bland game as a forfeit win. They don’t beat Galax, GW, and take your pick on the third between Auburn, Fort Chiswell, and Marion. It’s actually conceivable that they could go winless over that timeframe if those tossup games go against them. Just my opinion and not saying it might not be a 4-2 finish but it’s unlikely based on what we know so far about these teams.
