It's safe to say that Brentsville gave James Monroe all they could handle. Brentsville was up at the half. And the score is not indicative of how the game was close. There were a couple good plays by James Monroe that helped and the officiating was interesting. Brentsville deserves some respect and with several returning starters next year including the entire backfield they should be interesting. So no rude awakening, no running clock. Straight up tough nose football. OCBOY, you were WRONG about them!

I wasn't wrong just like Serbay said in the Free Lance Star the only reason they got up was because they were running a completely different offense than we seen on film. Those adjustments to that offense took place at halftime and they were shut out. Their season is over so it's no use to keep talking about them. Good job to Brentsville on an up and coming season.

You are right eastguy,
Brentsville came to play, the coach needs to go, for the third time this year he had a 15 yd penalty called on him,
Brentsville was up 16-7 and that penalty changed the momentum of the game. If a kid gets that call he jumps all over him, pulls him out of the game and so on. He got out coached, he went away from what was working and pretty much gave it all to JM. He cost us the Fauquier and Kettle Run games this year. And to think he is going to be brentsville's baseball coach in the spring.

Where did the coach come from experience etc?

It's probably headed south anyway because they are losing some good players. He came from Woodbridge with no head coaching experience, he came and brought a couple kids, one that he is trying to build the team around.

What do you mean brought a couple kids? And coming from Woodbridge it explains a lot to me now on some things that were previously said through the season.

He coached at Woodbridge under his older brother. When he came to Brentsville a few of the other Woodbridge coaches came with him, including his twin brother. His older brother went to coach at Poly Tech in Delaware and is now the AD and his twin brother is an asst. at Potomac High School in Dumfries.

They should have most of its backfield back next year, but they are losing most of it o-line and some key defensive players.

Against James Monroe they ran an offense they have run a few times during this season, just not a whole lot. The biggest thing is James Monroe adjusted at half time and Brentsville kept trying to run the same thing with little to no adjustment.

I think they did that to Culpeper too switch up the offense at different times of the game.

Yes, against Culpeper they ran two, maybe 3, different offensive schemes.

They didn't pass much, just enough to prevent the other teams from putting 11 in the box. Their QB had a injured knee most of the year, did not play in 4 games and only played a little over 2 quarters in one. On top of that they really had no deep threat receivers. I think they had as many drops as they did completions. In the future they need to need to get a couple guys that can catch and at least one that can go deep.

I don't really care what the other's say. I didn't give Brentsville much of a chance and didn't think much of their season. They showed everybody something against James Monroe, who are a tough out for anybody. I don't care if Brentsville changed up the offense, you play to win the game and you do it any way you can. In the end, Brentsville led in every category but the scored. 1st downs, yardage passing and running and by a substantial amount.

Now JM did what they do. Adjusted at Halftime, had the wrath of God lecture and made the big plays that scored points. The Jacket offense did little.

So, due respect to Brentsville. Very nice season for a team I certainly underestimated.
