Who Wins Tonight? Gap or Lee?

Robert E Lee or Gap: Who Wins?

I usually don't get involved in these threads, but wanted to throw in my two cents worth.

At the beginning of the season, I would've said Buffalo Gap - based on their success recently, as well as Lee's inconsistency over seasons past.

But after the first 3 games of the season, I've completely changed my opinion.

I don't feel this Bison team is like the past few years - the same goes for Lee.

Gap's two wins are over teams with one combined win so far - Lee has given Rockbridge and East Rock their only losses on the season so far.

The question is, will Lee finally max out their potential this season, or will it end up like past seasons - lots of expectations.....but nothing more.

I see Lee winning this one easily, to be honest.

But what do I know...they play it on the field, right?

Just my humble opinion...

Lee is different this year. Kids have bought in to Coach G and they will see success. This team is scary good this year so hats off to them. Lots of respect to Gap too as they have a very solid coaching staff that puts their kids in the right spot to succeed. Should be close early with Lee pulling away by 2 TDs once they settle in to the game.

I must say, I'm not liking everybody jumping on the R E Lee bandwagon... In years past, when people started to hype them up, it's like they would forget how to play the next time they took the field. I am hopeful that this year's team breaks the trend, and stays locked in week in and week out.

That said, I think they will beat Buffalo Gap tonight, but I'm not loving all the hype, as they still have a lot of work to do to be a serious contender.

@Keith_Stone33, I have seen improvement every since Coach G arrived. It's a process and this group seems to have gotten over the proverbial hump. Not on the band wagon at all but I like what he brings and I do know some of those young men from years past. Best of luck except when playing
the team from G-ville, lol.

Lee is the odds on favorite right now for district based on the season so far I think it will be between them and Riverheads

@Baseball215, don't forget about Luray. If they are as physical as advertised then they will certainly be in the hunt song with a couple of teams that have one loss right now. I do not see anyone running the table as of today.

Probably not the best choice of words with bandwagon on my part, mostly just referring to the hype surrounding them after the first 3 games. Lee is a good team and I believe in Coach G and his staff, but as you can tell, the early hype they are getting right now concerns me...

I am a score-comparer from way back and that often gets me in trouble. But here is why I would give Lee the solid edge tonight............Rockbridge beat Parry McCluer by 27; Lee then beat Rockbridge by 16 I think it was; ergo Lee must be 43 points better than Parry McCluer. Buffalo Gap on the other hand only beat PM by 8, playing at home.

Not saying that Lee is 35 points better than Gap, but based on the numbers they have put up this year, I think they will win tonight. Whatever happens, it will give us a clearer picture of what each team has this year, as each succeeding week will do.

Lee beat Rockbridge by 25. I too think Lee wins tonight, but I think Gap is good. Riverheads is still king of the Shenandoah in my opinion. I think Lee does better against them this year but considering what Riverheads has done to them in the past 2 years, IDK. Luray must be pretty good as well. Time will tell.

Lee is more talented. They usually are, but as has already been said, it looks like the coach has gotten through to them. On film, I've seen players making their assignments and some really nice speed. There is still work to be done on defense, but they are much better than last year. Tonight will be a test, and I expect it actually won't be very close. I like Gap, but I'll be sitting on the Leemen's side tonight.
