Who's the favorites in 2017?

Where? Please post a link to the article that you are talking about.
Just in case he still thinks he's right. This is right out of the VHSL Handbook:

68-4-4 Determining Championships
-The League declares football champions in each
classification at the district level and has provisions for single division champions at the re-
gional and state levels. District champions are determined on the basis of their won-and-lost records, as prescribed in this Handbook and by each school’s compliance with all provisions in this section.

I saw a Brad Fauber tweet (Northern Va Daily) last month, plus I use logic. But hey, get a banner, ring, t-shirt, etc.
Obviously the VHSL doesn't use the same logic you do thank God. Clarke doesn't do District Banners for athletics, if they did they wouldn't have room for the their 38 Regional and 29 State Banners

Sorry to all the 2A fans for for this thread getting into another joke with the Hater of Clarke, but I like proving him wrong. back to the original question, in the East I think Goochland, Stuarts Draft, East. Rock, Robert E. Lee, Clarke, Strasburg, Buffalo Gap and Madision all have a shot at cracking the top 5. Obviously I know what Clarke returns, but not sure about how many seniors other schools are losing. Central could also be in there but they lost a lot of guys. Just basing it on how they played this year and the overall traditions of these programs. In the West I have to go with App. and Union, not sure about anybody else.

I do believe that the thread was supposed to be about the top teams in the East/West for 2017. Would anyone care to stop bickering about other things and actually list their top 5?

If I throw a stick, will you leave?
If you guys go to the top of the page by your sign on name, there's a drop down where it says "people you ignore" click on it type in the "trolls" name and none of his stupid and berating comments will show up on your page. Maybe she'll go to the 4a board where she belongs...oh that's right her team can't compete with 4a schools.

Knights may be 2 years away from competing at the top again. Our entire team next year will be freshman, sophomores and juniors. Very young but we do have some legit speed coming back, o-line will be the question mark. Skill positions we have talent. Just hope they all come out.

Gate City is supposed to be back. From the ones I have spoken with, they were very young and are supposed to be fantastic, having their best team in years. If this is the case and they are truly the Gate City of old form, then look out explosive offenses because you may only touch the ball 5-6 times in a High School Game. Talking about playing clock by running the ball smash mouth and good D, that team that won it back in 2010 could surely do it. I watched them in the title game and I swear, it seemed like Gretna touched the ball 5 times, maybe 6 at most for the entire game.

Thank you. Everyone knows Central is the outright BRD champ except CC. The Northern Virginia Daily indicated Central was the outright champ.
Wrong mon amie. CC and Central are co-champs. Not sure of other districts but in the BRD, same record equals co-champs. No tie breaker since winning the district has no bearing on playoff standing.

My question is to all of sports, how can you be a co-champ if you lost the head-to-head match-up? The record may be the same, but head-to-head settles everything. How can a team brag about being a co-champs when in fact they lost to the team who is the other half of the co-champion.

Co-Champ is under the same umbrella as everyone should get a trophy.

Not my rule or idea. I just know for a fact that, at least in the BRD, same record equals co-champs in football for sure. Do not know about the other sports. Happened in 2010 as well.

Not that I agree or disagree but...Clarke beat Strasburg; Strasburg beat Central; Central beat Clarke. So the argument becomes: We beat you head to head. But we beat the team who beat you. (Strasburg messed up the 3 way by loosing to someone else).

All sports come down to head-to-head, that is why the game is played. It's not played on paper and who beat who outside of the actual match up. Only need for co-champs is in Tag Team Wrestling (since there are actually 2 guys).

This is a topic I have never understood. There should be an outright champ and the tie breaker of head-to-head should be the deciding factor.

Just my two cents.

I see your point. I guess the only real way to settle it would be to have a district championship game, but I don't see it happening.

As I mentioned earlier, its a VHSL rule, not a BRD rule. If two or more teams end up with the same district record they are co champs. The regional seeding is based on power point rankings. If by chance the two teams have the same rankings, then head to head winner gets the higher seed. Thats why Clarke was seeded higher than Central even though Central Beat Clarke, had they ended up with the same power rankings, then Central would have received the higher seed.
