WILSON HAS NO MORE CUPCAKES

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

McCauley....didn't he play as a Freshman on the varsity? Ran all over Waynesboro that year? He was that good. Tell me more about his little brother. What year is he? Did he even play?

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Yea he played he was the one getting 8-10 yard runs on tall last night when we put our back ups in. Mccauley played as a freshman against waynesboro because we had connery swift out that game. He was backup the rest of the year.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Oh okay....well shoot....I guess with him taking over for his big brother ya'll will be challenging for another state title next year? How did he do as a JV player?

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Not challenging for state title, but we have enough to get us through with a decent season next year. Then the following year we have a group that will be sophomores that year that is as good as this group of seniors we have. But we will let you guys start worrying bout next year we still have this year to play.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

so you are talking about 8th graders? Please tell me this isn't based on a little league season!!!! If so.... wow!

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Yea 8th graders. They been together since midgets. Won super bowl in midgets, juniors and the last two in seniors. You do realize that's were players come from little league.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Hey idiot, those seniors that thrashed you guys twice this year, they were together in little league and won several Super Bowls as well. You think these kids just start playing in 9th grade or something. What an idiot.

Attention: Bids now being accepted by Wilson Memorial for construction of new trophy case to house the 2014 2A Football Championship Trophy. Doesn't need to be a large case because there aren't any other trophies to put in it except this years trophy. We haven't won yet but there is no one in our way. Just a matter of time. HA! HA! HA! Roll Pride.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Easy big guy!!! No need in name calling!!!

I just think it is very humorous that one thinks little league Super Bowls equates varsity success. But hey....if that's how simple you want to keep things then go for it. And you have the audacity to call me an idiot.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Those little league teams run the exact same offense as our varsity does, by the time they get to varsity there pretty good at running the offense. That equates to success regardless if you see it or not. You might not want to admit it on this board but you can definetley say you saw it first hand twice this year, and last year and the year before that, I'll stop now you get the idea. Good luck with basketball

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Probably a little of both. You gotta have a good system but need the players to run it also.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Here is a challenge for you and anyone else who believes that if you win a "Super Bowl" that it means varsity success. Do you have a roster of this mighty Senior team? If so, keep it. Then in four years go to the game on a Friday and check off how many kids are even playing football that night. You may me surprised how many are even playing. Also consider this for your awesome senior Super Bowl champion. How many teams had a lot of their 8th grader playing JV? How many 8th graders were on WM's JV team?

Dear Hornet. Please promise us that you will be available for comment after this weeks game. Are you sure you know what it takes to go all the way? Talent, coaching and a lot of luck. Wilson is a good team but they have some serious work to do. If Giles is anything like they were last year (which they are). The Green is going to have all they can handle.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

They won it in midgets, juniors and twice in seniors, so I don't think the 8th grader question is relevant. Maybe if it was the first one they won, but it was multiple. As far as how many are playing on Friday night the group that just beat you guys twice this year have been together since little league. Cullen, mccauley, swift, Tyler clayton, gochenour, Hunter Carr, Thai wright etc. They all played little league together

Agree 100%. Giles is a monster, that's even if we can get to them. Brunswick is a very good team. I'm not saying we're going to win it at all, just don't care for people bashing them because there team is out.

Re: Interesting that you mention Waynesboro

Okay....you are right. LL Super Bowls = Varsity Success.

NOW HEAR THIS - WILSON HAS A JUGGERNAUT THAT WILL PLAY AS JVS NEXT YEAR AND THEY WILL SOON BE ON THE VARSITY. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT THIS GROUP OF KIDS WON THE LITTLE LEAGUE SUPER BOWL EVERY YEAR THEY WERE TOGETHER. THEREFORE, THE SHENANDOAH DISTRICT WILL NOW BE PLAYED TO NAME THE SECOND PLACE FINISHER.

Although players will move both in and out of schools districts, others will no longer play for various reasons, and many will hit growing spurts in both strength and size that will enable them to catch up with the "studs" that dominate the little league, none of these factors will change the dynamics of varsity football teams in the area. All will remain status quo according to Hornet97. Your teams LL record this year designates what it will be for the next 4-5 years.

Buddy, just stop

Seriously TC, just stop. You are making your school/fanbase sound as bad as xcross does.
1. Wilson has ZERO state championships. Who are you to start discounting Div1 championships? You have none in your past and none in your near future. IF, that is a IF, you get past this coming game vs Brunswick, you still have a solid West team coming into Fishersville followed by Giles. The means: No state championship for "the greatest group of seniors of all time". (But don't hold your breath this week, the clock is ticking on your season)
2. (And I will admit this is a dumb thing to discuss, but someone has to wake TC up) Wilson is easily the most hated fanbase in the area. Everyone agrees on that. Yes Riverheads is hated, but it is like hating the Patroits or Bama, they keep winning. Wilson is hated cause of the noise that is heard from Fishersville. Also, money doesn't buy state championships. If it did, lord knows they'd have the ten that their fanbase makes it sound like they have. Gap hates Wilson the most, Draft hates Wilson the most, and there is enough in the rest of the area to make this a no contest. Riverheads and Gap have a true rivalry; There is respect there. But Wilson and Riverheads do not. It is a hatred. It was there when everyone was bad in the 80's and 90's, it was there when Riverheads was rocking Wilson every year, and it is here now when Wilson found a way to string a few wins togther. The Hatred can be heard every-time there is an out of town score announced in Fishersville about the Gladiators. I honestly think it sad that there is such a roar when a score from an out of town game is announced. And heck, last night the same roar about the Goochland score was had. So don't try to say Wilson respects them. Maybe fear is the right word. The fanbase is more worried about what is happening to their rivals than what is happening in front of them.
3. Last year when Riverheads took care of Goochland a week after the hornets took it on the chin again, all that was said was that "it didn't matter that Riverheads beat Goochland cause Wilson beat RHS head to head". Well now this year Wilson gets to play an extra week and all the talk is how much better Wilson is but forgetting Riverheads won that game back in October. Which is it? Pick a stance and stick by it.
4. You beat East Rock. A team that can't get over the hump with either of us. Calm down.
5. How is Riverheads not a football school suddenly because they lost? Really dumb point.
6. Win for 15 years then start talking.

No matter what is said in Augusta County, Giles is the team to beat for everyone left. If Riverheads was still in it, I'd say the same thing.

I would say good luck, but no. I hope your team goes down this week. I hope we can all stop hearing the noise. Try winning... heck... playing with some class. Enough of the pre-game sway. Enough of the celebrations for first downs. Enough of the punches thrown (Draft game. It is on Film), Enough of the self promotion. I can't wait for it to be done. I know you haven't been there before, but try acting like it. You haven't done anything yet, and I'd stop talking like your gonna. Every year you have been stopped and this year will be the same. I know this is advise is directed more at the players on the filed, but TC, you and your fellow bleacher freaks could take a few notes on how to be humble.

Re: Buddy, just stop

This was a long time ago. When we played riverheads in 98 for the region b title. They were a 2 touchdown favorite. At the end of the night we had smacked them around all night and beat a very good riverheads team. If it is the same head coach for riverheads now as it was then. I have nothing but respect for that whole group they were gracious in defeat. People just need to stick to predictions and useful football discussions not all this shit talking. I was honestly pulling for riverheads last night simply because they are a class program. WM fans are just mad because riverheads runs Augusta county. As far as 1A titles back then it was only 3 classifications A. AA AAA with two divisions in each class. My school don't even play Wilson and we can't stand them. We tried when I was in school to get a home and home series and they refused. I guess they were scared of little old Strasburg. NOW MY PREDICTION FOR BRUNSWICK AND WM. 42-21 BRUNSWICK. ON FILM I HAVE SEEN OF BOTH WM DOES NOT HAVE THE SPEED TO KEEP UP WITHIN BRUNSWICK.

Trevor you want to talk about class and you get on here and feel the need to bash Riverheads all the time, real classy! I find it funny when we beat Wilson, Riverheads fans didn't get on here and post negative ignorant comments as you are doing and you talk about class?!! You talk about us throwing up our three state championships in your face all the time, I believe you are the one that does that!? To make a statement on us dropping back to single A next year, like we have control over that, I mean really Trevor! You get yourself so worked up over Xcross comments and then you start ranting and raving, its fans like you that get stuff stirred up between the two schools, not the kids! There are great kids on that Wilson football team with lots of class. Had a Wilson player come up to my son, which is a Riverheads player, and congratulated him on a good game after we beat wilson! We all our proud of our teams and support them BUT you really have issues with Riverheads and wonder why that is? VERY proud of my Gladiators this year and our football program! We have great kids, coaches and fans! Wish the seniors all the best and excited for next year!

Re: Buddy, just stop

TimWakefield you make a good point on #2. I would say that the Wilson Fanbase is everyone's least favorite for our area (not including myself in there) and that the Riverheads football program is the most hated team/program. I don't have the stats to back it up but it seems as though the population at Wilson has more money as a whole than any of the other area schools (makes sense as the hospital is in Fishersville) and they think they are better than you. It's kind of the "teaverton" stereotype which makes outsiders see a stigma attached to the hornet fanbase. I will say this though, I like how the Wilson fanbase supports their teams. They really supported them at the cheer events and do the same for their football. I like their coaches and players too, it's just a shame that a few bad apples in the fanbase/coaches/players hurt the reputation of the entire community. I enjoy your stuff on here as well Trevor, I feel like you have been ganged up on a little bit here, and this has gotten out of hand. Riverheads football is hated simply because they are usually the top dog and everybody roots for the top team to go down, especially when they are seen as the best program in our area (based off the past 15 years).

There are a few bad apples in the Riverheads community as well (as with every fanbase) and if you were to check out the social media accounts of some of the players and the Red Pride Nation @RHSGladiators_ twitter account you may find some things that don't fit the definition of class. I saw some classless tweets after RHS defeated Wilson, and one in particular coming from a player who will remain nameless which stood out to me, that said something along the lines of "Built by the Press, beat by the best." So it happens to every team and fanbase; Lee, Gap, Draft, waynesboro and fort have them as well!

I hope Wilson goes on to win the state championship so we can get another championship for our area, and to help me in the bracket challenge!

As for the success in little league translating into success in high school: the seniors division is the one that can be the most deceiving, but if you are good in Juniors, you are likely to be competitive in varsity (not necessarily state championships). I have found that to be true over the years, but there are always exceptions as kids stop growing, parents move kids to other areas, etc. Unfortunately the competition is going down slightly in the ACQC compared to 10ish years ago, as the Spartan football league has been poaching some of the SAW kids.

I know tensions can get high on this board, and I made a fool of myself earlier this year defending my hometown team, so I know how easy it is to get fired up, but I hope this tension dies down soon so we can focus on round 3 of the playoffs where we are blessed to have some great games on deck. I think Wilson has a tough draw with Brunswick, and I would not be surprised to see them back in Salem, but I am hopeful of a Hornet victory.

As the new poster who I am thinking is from ER said, I hope you stay on the forum as well, Trevor, even if your team starts to slide a little bit, but I hope they just reload. It's good for the area to have solid teams.

Re: Buddy, just stop

First of all. I did not start this "bashing" thread.

I have nothing but respect for Riverheads and although I don't like RHS or Casto I can't help but respect them and the tradition they have built.

The not being a football school this year was a response to the slight at our cheerleaders winning a state title..meaning your season is over and you are no longer a football school this year.

We may very well lose this week, there is nothing but great teams left. But do not act all high and mighty now and pretend RHS posters did not mouth off after they beat us this year. Maybe not on this board for everyone to see but the things said on Twitter were enough, especially from one of your players.

And what is so wrong with our pre game sway? Is there a rule saying you must walk hand in hand to the field and not show any excitement at all?

Also I see now that most of the comments here were made by an East Rock fan who's new to the site..so I guess I should have focused a little more of the comments to the school who has yet to come within 10 points of us in a game

Re: Buddy, just stop

Dude. Football season is over at RHS, not Riverheads being a football school. Weight Room is open, so there is always football activity. That's what is takes to win year after year. Football all the time.Yeah, maybe a few go play basketball or wrestle, but the rest are focused on getting their bodies better for next year. As long as the culture is what it is at Riverheads, it will be football school, it doesn't matter if the season stops in early Nov., late Nov, or December.

Glad we at least respect Casto. You'd be crazy not to.

Wilson will lose this week. My opinion of this has nothing to do with Riverheads still playing or not.

I just don't like the sway. It is a show. I prefer teams to show on the field, while the clock is running. The pre-game hype is just not my style. I don't like it when Miami does it, I don't like it when the Ravens do it. It is just not my style. Yeah Riverheads has a nice pre-game with fireworks and some classic rock, but the players simply run on the field. The show is around them, it's not them dancing. We can call it difference of opinion, but I'll tell you it turns a lot of people off to see that kind of swagger before there is even a coin toss.

I still say, that games between Wilson and Riverheads have been great the last few year. I heck of a lot more enjoyable than the bashing the hornets took from in the 2000s. I also remember the RHS folks being pretty level headed following the losses and the wins on this board.

I'm gonna go back not not saying much. I think people prefer when I am not writing novels on here in response to the non-sense.

Re: Buddy, just stop

You're reading too deep into the football comment Tim. It was just saying that as of now football season is over. In no way am I saying RHS is not a football school

Re: Buddy, just stop

What happens to the sway when the Hornets start getting their butts handed to them. Will look rather ridiculous, honestly. What would people think if Page or Stonewall came out like that?

Re: Buddy, just stop

Honestly I wouldn't care. You do whatever you feel pumps you up. Its better than copying a tradition the school two miles away has whenever you score

Why does 1A matter? We won a state title. Because we were a large 1A school? If that is the case how come Wilson does nt have a title? They are one of the largest schools in 2A.

Re: This is just sad

Just stop..please..This is pathetic

And as for the little league success= varsity success...There's definitely some correlation. Gretna had won something like 14 straight little league area championships or whatever they're called now and they ended up winning 5 state championships in 9 years... That stuff matters man. There are a TON of other factors but one of the big keys to having a good varsity program (in any sport) is having kids, parents, and coaches that really care at the little league level. Development doesn't start in the 8th or 9th grade. I can say when I attended Gretna, they had players starting weightlifting during the spring semester of their 7th grade year..Clearly, things have changed a lot at Gretna now.
