PORTSMOUTH, Va. - After months of input from the community and two public hearings, the Portsmouth School Board voted Thursday to officially rename three schools whose names have racist ties.

Woodrow Wilson High School will be renamed Manor High School (the school’s former name before it was consolidated with two other high schools in 1993); James Hurst Elementary will be renamed Cradock Elementary; and John Tyler Elementary will be renamed Waterview Elementary.

Are they changing the mascot too? I do like the logo - I didn't realize that they change the school name from Manor to WW in 1990!

they consolidated three high schools into one instead of desegregated the three. That is the old logo; I hope they keep it for old time sake.

I also notice that they paid tribute to old Craddock High School by naming a elementary school Craddock.
