Oscar Smith is in Southeastern conference with just three teams - Grassfield (6A), Great Bridge (6A), and Oscar Smith (6A). You would expect OS to play more 6A teams, but it isn't the case. . . .

2018 Oscar Smith Schedule

Aug 25 @ West Forsyth (NC) (?)
Aug 31 bye
Sept 7 Great Bridge (4A)
Sept 14 @ Grassfield (6A)
Sept 21 Lakeland (3A)
Sept 28 Hickory (5A)
Oct 5 Nansemond River (5A)
Oct 12 Deep Creek (4A)
Oct 20 Indian River (5A)
Oct 26 Western Branch (6A)
Nov 2 King’s Fork (4A)

I don't see how this schedule can help OS in the playoffs.

It's only considered weak because of class. Indian River, King's Fork, Deep Creek, Nansemond River, and West Forsyth will all be top level teams this year, regardless of classification, and who knows how good the others could end up? That's plenty of practice for the playoffs in my opinion, especially with King's Fork as the last game. That will be a HUGE game. The thing that will matter more is how their seeding will end up, but they play plenty good competition.

The S.E. District schedule allows for 1 game out of District. That's part of the reason why they choose a Huge game for their season opener each year. Not sure how good W. Forsyth will be this year but as others have mentioned, Indian River may be positioned to be playing in the 5A South Regional Final this Year. Nansemond River played in that game last year. King's Fork will go deep in 4A & Deep Creek will be capable of winning any game against the top teams.

As anon- mentioned, in the 757, Classification may not mean as much as in other regions.

They don’t have a week schedule in fact you could make an argument they have one of the hardest districts in the state.
