Ok thanks guys I had hoped the Bees would have had a better showing but not real surprised at that final. They did lose a few really good players to transfer but it sounds like it wouldn't have mattered tonight anyway. Lineburg and Woody have a lot of work to do.
I think Salem just made them look that bad. Unfortunately, I don't see Brookville winning any more than 3-5 games. I saw Heritage last night against Fleming. With that QB I could see them winning 6-8 games. I could be wrong on both, but that’s my read. I should see LCA next week. I like getting to see these Seminole teams. Might see Glass or JF in the playoffs as well.

Salem in mid season form... #78 freshman Jake James 6'6 290 BEAST.... .I left early... Brookville isn't a. Bad team salem is just very good. Kicking game needs work.... should b a great match up at L.C.A.final score I don't know but it could ha v e been 55 -0
Roster lists him at 6'2" 275. That seems more accurate. I've seen him several times the last couple of weeks and he definitely doesn't look 6'6. He's still growing and ultimately he might end up that big, but not yet. He's a player though for sure!

Region B

@BoKnowsSports Go check out the 1st half of the Hermitage and Huguenot scrimmage when you get a chance.

Hermitage might be finally putting it together. They are ATHLETIC. They used a running QB and a throwing qb. I'm pretty sure the runner will be the starter. Also I'm pretty sure Andre Clark wasn't on the field.

Huguenot didn't look bad though. They will probably have to lean on the run early. Scott looked uncomfortable after throwing an early pick.

Hermitage went up 20-0 before Huguenot scored twice late in the 1st half. 20-16 starters vs starters.

Giles vs Christiansburg

Definitely the slowest backfield we’ve had but they do run hard. Our line done pretty good containing the juggernauts across from them. Multiple drives inside Cburg territory where the drives were halted due to penalties or fumbles. Our secondary worries me. If you make it to the second level we’re toast. We will see what happens. I think I only counted like 3 senior starters which is a good sign.

HS Football coverage

As Ditka mentioned there are 4 media outlets in the Roanoke area that cover HS football. When I was a kid Friday Football Extra was the only TV coverage for Friday football in the area, and they did a better job then by themselves, than the 4 combined do now. One of the reasons I fell in love with "Community Football" is because a guy named Mike Stevens (not me) was the main reporter for FFE. I always thought it was so cool that a guy with my name was the face of FFE. (He's now the city of Salem’s spokesperson)

The Roanoke Times used to have excellent print coverage in the Sat paper as well. Myself or my wife at the time, would run out to Krispy Kreme and get a dozen hots and I would make a cup of coffee and peruse all of the wonderful stories of the previous night's drama. Robert Anderson and team were excellent at bringing the best write ups.

Sadly, neither media format compares to the good ol days. I also miss the Cox Sportsreport with Matt Hatfield.
FFE was the gold standard from its start in September 1984. Jim Shaver and John Kernan(ESPN/NASCAR) got the ball rolling but Mike Steven's, Roy Stanley, Travis Wells and the crew took it to the heights. All the area stations WSET, WSLS, and eventually WFXR have all played roles on Friday night. The area was blessed for a very long time with great high school sports coverage, both TV and print. Changes have not been kind to either medium in quantity or quality of coverage but, the one advantage that has helped is technology.

You could put quite an all star team on the field if you go back through the 40 years of Friday Football Extra. Good times and memories!
