Graham vs Strasburg

That's about the time the drunk Strasburg fan threw up and got the cops called on him. In a very classy way, his buddy (that got some puke on him) turned around and called the HS kids pu$$ys for saying something. Other S-ville fans were calling their own QB trash. Glad to see them get their eyes beat in.
Apparently, Graham had one player flip off the Strasburg side after the game according to some Strasburg folks. It only takes one to make everyone look bad. Graham as a team & fan base has exhibited great sportsmanship throughout the playoffs. I’m still very proud of that. Both teams Saturday displayed great sportsmanship on the field throughout the game. Sucks that one kid acted that way at the end. Kids just don’t think unfortunately (no excuse for his behavior) but adults should act better.

Congrats Phantoms’ fans

Bo I would love your take on this but before the Wyche injury it seemed as if Wyche and Carter were out of sync from the start. Most uncharacteristic game from anything I've seen from them two this season. I think if some of those errant high passes find Carter then Varina is in better shape. They might not win but they have a better showing offensively.
I thought Varina matched up well with Phoebus. I think the biggest difference was Phoebus being significantly more prepared than Varina. I think Varina knew that they were not going to have consistent success running the football against that Phoebus front 7. They had some success but not nearly enough. They needed to get Myles Anderson and D1 Carter the ball but never ever switched it up. It was either a screen or a deep ball. No end arounds/jet sweeps, no wildcat, no mixing it up. Phoebus knew where the ball was going and their defense never really bended or broke. I thought Varina ran Kaleb Wyche entirely too much and the schemes looked very back yard football like. Thought Varina should’ve taken some shots early and that never happened. Kaleb never was put in position to settle into the game or get any rhythm going and I believe that’s why he was so off on his passes.

Blog Class 6 Final: Oscar Smith Tigers (14-0) vs. James Madison Warhawks (14-0)

To add some context to Madison’s penalty, the wide receiver at the top of the field near the 10 yard line removed his helmet, threw it/left it on the field, and another player from the sideline had to go and retrieve it. Removing your helmet on the field has always been a no-no, even in celebration. Calling that is instinctual for the refs, don’t blame them.

What is the “least modern” offense that you have seen be successful in the modern era.

I believe Centreville operated out of the Wing-T during their 2013 state title & 2014 state runner-up seasons. And boy those were fun offenses to watch, probably one of the finer examples in VA how dangerous of an offense it can be when you have really fast and talented skill players to carry the ball (great blocking too).

Massaponax also had their vaunted triple option offense. The 2021 team was really good and lost to eventual state champion Oscar Smith in the semi-finals by only a touchdown.

Graham vs Strasburg

Graham had more athletes, more physical players and the better scheme. Trying to figure out who is 2nd best is futile. In terms of Physicality, I would say Union was nearly as Physical as Graham. As far as scheme, Glenvar was well coached and has a great scheme and also were a pretty physical team. Strasburg's scheme wasn't going to beat Graham, even if they were as physical as Graham. One thing is clear, Graham was the best 2A team in the state for sure.

There was some debate on the best regions. I would rank them this way (only my opinion)
1. Region D
2. Region C
3. Region B
4. Region A

Yep, yet people blame it on LCA being a private school. The truth is that Class 3 is probably the weakest of all six classifications in terms of depth of quality teams. But no one wants to talk about that.
So why do you think 3A is weak? Maybe its that LCA is that strong? I think that you would agree that Glenvar was one of the better teams in 2A and almost won the 2A state. Alleghany beat them badly and they lost to Turner Ashby who then lost badly to LCA. Guess we will see about LCA next year and if they don't bring in a lot of new players then I will come on here and admit that I am wrong. We will see.

Salem never plays any C5 or C6 teams at all except for Fleming and Franklin County in their district. Dinwiddie is a great program but the only C5 or C6 team they have played OOD in recent years if Maury and that was a blowout. I agree with Varina and Phoebus playing C5 and C6 teams close regularly.
Fleming and Franklin County are not in Salems district. Patrick Henry is d5 and Salem plays them every year and they are in the district.
