Congrats to Essex on the big win over the "fav" Altavista

I didn't see very much of this game because the others were more competitive. I checked in at halftime and it was 8-8. Then when I checked again it was 16-8. Next score I saw was 30-8. So yes, it does sound like Essex is on a mission. But from what I saw of the Grayson game, they will not give up until the final horn, so it could be a real battle. Essex certainly needs to win after that bizarre 7-6 game last year.

Graham vs Glenvar

On a side note, I would love to see Graham and Glenvar get a series going or something in the future. Two quality programs. Same goes for Radford and Graham. Graham could drop GW and Galax and pick up a couple of tough 2A teams. Nothing against GW or Galax.
Yeah I’ve been saying they need to drop GW and Galax. No need to be playing single a teams anymore. I’ve been saying for a while they should call up Lord Botty or get Abingdon or Princeton back on the schedule or maybe Christiansburg.

Poquoson vs strasburg

Yeah their offense is very unique. They run a power T, but with splits like you typically see with a veer offense
Water must be different in Strasburg, we always seem to be the “little dog” in the fight. Never have had much size. OL Splits help the backs have a hole and help our smaller linemen make their blocks.

Graham vs Glenvar

Yeah, missing Floyd hurt Graham worse then I thought it would. I figured Graham had enough talent to make up for him not being there. They still had the athleticism, but the nose for the ball that Floyd has wasn't there and it burned them a few times. I think Blake Graham played a whale of a game for Graham and his performance shouldn't be overlooked as well. Floyd should be back next week, not sure about Sharpe. Graham did a good job of replacing Williamson with a committee of guys. Should be another great game next week. Strasburg runs an offense that Graham hasn't seen, it'll be interesting to see how they adjust on defense for that.
Yeah I knew Floyd’s absence was going to hurt worse than Williamson’s. I was going to say that earlier. Graham has Hill, Dowell, Jones, Hendricks, Kennard on the d line but a senior leader like Floyd was going to be hard to replace. Especially a DB when you’re playing a team that can pass. His replacement did a good enough job and even had an interception.

Congrats to Essex on the big win over the "fav" Altavista

And without Altavista only having to go 2 yards for their score today, they'd never have scored
Was one of those games I’d argue did not feel as close as the score indicated. That final minute of the first half really swung momentum where I thought Essex would be in trouble for the second half, but they responded

Lafayette/Kettle Run

Not surprised that Lafayette lost, but didn't think they'd lose by three touchdowns...tough to get to a state championship and even tougher to win one.
That sloppy grass field did not allow any sharp cuts or real speed. That’s Lafayette’s game.
As an addendum Lafayette coach Linn said numerous times this was his fastest team ever, that was effectively negated by the field conditions BUT that is the benefit of home field advantage.

Graham vs Glenvar

Injuries, turnovers and missed opportunities often decide these state semi and finals games. Graham had the injury thing going against them, but whoever was at Defensive Tackle for the kid who was hurt looked scary to me as well and it looked like Graham was rotating two of them. I think Graham not having the Floyd kid was felt in the secondary and that hurt Graham some in coverage.

Graham and Glenvar had equal missed opportunities and costly turnovers were about the same to me. Graham's physicality did show in this game from about 8 minutes in the 4th to the final. Glenvar knew they were running on that last drive and simply couldn't stop it. Even with GMen penalties on that last clock killing drive, Graham st that point had taken over the line of scrimmage.

Everyone playing for 2nd

Nah they already that in 2022 when they lost to Dinwiddie in the Class 4 Championship 65-20. They can compete with LCA. They matchup well.
I agree that “welcome to states” whooping benefited the Kettle Run program. They will remember.

If LCA doesn’t have a lot of lightning fast kids, we probably won’t see a running clock game with KR.
