4D seems to be very strong this year
Appreciate you my guy! Hope all is well with you. Are you at the game tonight? 28-3 at halftime 🥴 I think we’ll still be a tough out come playoff time.
I agree about the defense being outstanding. It's the offense (or lack thereof) that is concerning as a Graham fan. Also, the self induced wounds resulting in penalties of 100 + yards per game. A good team may need to only score 10 points on Graham to beat them. One positive is that V-High played them tough last year and Graham still made a deep run. There is still time to clean up the penalties, but the coaching staff needs to get on that stuff ASAP. Graham seems to have these mental miscues on a consistent basis the past few seasons. Not sure what the best way to approach this problem could be, hopefully the G-men will figure things out. From a Radford fan I'm also worried about Graham because I wouldn't want to be the team that plays them. Defense wins titles and Grahams defense might be the best they've had in over 30 years. I don't see anyone moving the ball on them or any teams offense scoring over 10 pts. Graham's scores will not be as wide of victory margins this year, but it will not matter. 49 to 13 looks great compared to 28-7 but the truth is, the team with 7 has little chance of moving the ball. If you look at how many yds per game Graham is giving up, it's alarmingly low and for Graham, might be historic low and having to go back all the way to 1989. Their defense is that good this year
Dinwiddie is arguably the best not named Phoebus. Had a bad game against Maury but they’ve taken care of business so far. Remember when people was trippin about them “struggling” with North Stafford? Man that’s looking like a really good win. May be NS’s only loss in the regular season. Depth and size has been my knock with Dinwiddie but they’re a lot better this year. Still think the region is theirs to lose even though I think Huguenot is the most complete team in 4B.Best team I’ve seen on film in the 804. Would like to see how they do against other good teams before you say they’re in the same category as Phoebus.
Remember a couple of weeks ago you said Dinwiddie is arguably the best C4 team in the state. Going to start looking forward to the next 804 team you hype. I love how you rep your area code though.
Best team I’ve seen on film in the 804. Would like to see how they do against other good teams before you say they’re in the same category as Phoebus.Think it’s time to include Huguenot in any conversation you have about Phoebus contending for the state championship. Put them in that same category. They have that it factor.
Let’s not act like Maury didn’t get an influx of talent last season but I’ll leave it alone lolRight like maury was built as a program before he got and people are thinking guys would flock to granby because of him because I think one kid left and went there which at that position is doing just fine without him. Plus also from my best understanding this group on kids that " " came to maury for him was his core special group so who's to say what he has in pipeline. But as I said in this in an earlier post as long as this core staff is there maury will be the top dawgs of Norfolk.
Man you see the rankings for the RVA Metro? Varina and Highland Springs over Dinwiddie and Huguenot is insane work.1. Maury
2. Phoebus
3. Hayfield
4. Oscar Smith
5. LCA
6. James Madison
7. Kings Fork
8. Green Run
9. Huguenot
10. Dinwiddie
Heading into district play there probably won’t be a lot of movement down the stretch.

Are you at the game tonight? 28-3 at halftime 🥴 I think we’ll still be a tough out come playoff time.Conference champs get an automatic seed 1-9 in 4a West. Seeding is done by RPI which is weighted basically your winning % + opponents' winning % + opponents' opponents winning %. Out of state is treated like in state if it's Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia or Tennessee. They gotta have a verified MaxPreps. It's got its pros and cons.
You’re 100% right Mike. I did leave out a big part. Playoff seeding are also based on how you do in your district (they go by conferences in NC) . You don’t see a 7-3 Halifax loading up on C2 and C3 teams, losing to GW, who played three C4 teams OOD, for the District Championship, and then Halifax getting the 4 seed over GW because GW lost to Amherst and Glass. That’s just an example but it actually happened a few years ago. GW won the District Championship and had to go on the road in the playoffs to South Boston.

Wait until Maury plays Granby it won’t be close. No one is leaving Maury to play for Granby, you’re not seeing a very key piece but you will on November 8th.

No one is leaving Maury to play for Granby, you’re not seeing a very key piece but you will on November 8th.Granby is a whole new program and they now have the guy responsible for stacking Maury’s team. Don’t be shocked if they become a force in the 2-3 years. It’ll be interesting to see if the kids start going to Granby over Maury.
Lake Taylor is the odd man out in the Norfolk Big 3 right now with Maury and Granby surging and getting all the talent in Norfolk.
Of course what caught my attention is Phoebus being tied 21-21 at half with Bethel after allowing two huge TDs and another one after fumbling in Bethel’s territory. Luckily it was an effort thing and after one hell of a halftime speech by Coach Blunt things were fixed and we out scored them 35-0 2nd half. This week is Hampton week so it will be interesting to see if the wake up call worked all the way.
