RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — George Wythe High School could have a new name soon after a fourth renaming community meeting took place at the school on Wednesday evening. After hearing feedback from the community during the meeting, the Richmond School Board will now narrow down the new name choices from five to three.

The five choices are:
- Culture High School of the Arts,
- Capitol City High School of the Arts,
- Heritage High School of the Arts,
- South Richmond High School of the Arts
- Gateway High School of the Arts.

The name Gateway High School is representative of our school’s mission. It celebrates our school as a gateway to opportunity for all students,” one community member who spoke at the meeting, Aaron Berryhill, said in support of the name Gateway High School of the Arts.

Here's what I've been able to discover thus far. Don't know anything about Mathews or Charles City although I have heard that Mathews is not fielding a team.

This showcase will take place on September 30th and October 1st at Christchurch School. Games will begin at 10 am on both days. Everyone is guaranteed to play three games. Each game will play two 16 minute halves, with a running clock, except the final two minutes of each half.

Anyone have word on these games for Battlefield teams over the next couple of weeks?

Graham gonna be really good again. Depends on if they can develop some very talented young lineman. At the skilled positions, we'll be as good or better than this year.

In Region D, I think it's Graham and Union for the title. Union was very young this year and returns a lot. Central Wise and Gate City will be good and might challenge Graham or Union in the Region, but Graham and Union are top 2 early Region Favorites. Ridgeview takes a major step back.

In Graham game 1 next year, Bluefield High WV may be favored over us. They are gonna be great next year.

I'm talking about King & Queen Central. The program has been on the rise the last 4-5 years and the kids and program are deserving of this. It's my understanding they will be similar to the lights found at Essex and King William.
On another note, Mathews is not fielding a team this fall. I understand they are not even going to have a JV team. They need to get a real mover and shaker to lead that program and bring it back to life.

Nansemond Suffolk Academy senior Isaiah Fuhrmann (6-foot-4, 195) added two more offers at the start of training camp. The athletic receiver received offers from Buffalo and Virginia Military Institute. Furhmann and is now up to 10+ offers. Furhmann was as good as any receiver I saw last year.

Who are some sleeper teams who might have flown under the radar so far this off season?

6 straight losses for Floyd Kellam whose last win also came in 2008.
6 straight losses for Albemarle whose last win was 2016.
