Question

I don't ask many questions on here thought I do enjoy very much reading the questions asked by others and the answers from the officials. To the officials who answer our questions - thanks for taking the time to do so and help us learn about the game we enjoy very much. On to my question; I was working on the chain crew at a game last Friday night and something happened I don't believe I've seen in my 36 years on the chains. After a penalty, the official who was working our side, asked the visiting coach if he wanted the clock to start or not. Under what conditions, does a coach get to decide whether the clock starts after a penalty? Have a good one!

My Thoughts on the Din at Meadowbrook game.

I think the biggest surprise to me was how tough the MB line was. As well as they played, and as fast as a couple of their backs are, I amazed that they haven’t been more competitive this year. They tackled well. Their defensive penetration was pretty good. Pass defense was not bad. Like I said, they should have been more competitive. Maybe they are just now coming together as a team?

Sadly, their fan support was abysmal. But, even sadder is the fact that the AD and/or the school Administration has let the entire season go by without repairing two poles full of lights. As an answer, they set up two light banks that shine in the eyes of whichever team is playing in that direction. Sweet Jesus, it’s Chesterfield County. The wealthiest county in central Virginia. They say they are doing good things for the kids and then they allow a situation to persist simply because someone won’t do their job? Pitiful. Don’t blame the kids for not doing what they should do when you set this example.

If the team will stay the course over the off season, Meadowbrook has the ability to be a factor again next year. I know they are moving up to Class 6, but they will still play the same seven Central District foes. I really hope to see this once proud and feared football team resurrect itself.

Strasburg vs Central (Woodstock) Bull Run Title and Region B #1 seed on the line Friday Night

This is the biggest game in this rivalry in the last 10 years or so. Both teams are coming into the game at 8-1. Strasburg is led on offense by Ryan Roller who is 21/38 for 453 yards 7 touchdowns to 2 interceptions on the year. The rushing attack is led by Takhi Coates 76 carries for 644 yards and 6 touchdowns. Braden Stern 65/597/8, Ryan Roller 28/297/8 and Brayden Decristfario 26/140/1. Rec. leaders are Walker Conrad 8 catches for 135 yards and 3 touchdowns, Griffen Carter 7/175/2 and Takhi Coates 3/98/2. On the defensive side of the ball they are led by Colby Shaw with 92 tackles on the year Walker Conrad with 48 tackles and Ryan Roller with 44 tackles. Walker Conrad leads the team with 5 sacks followed by Griffen Carter and Omari Holliday with 2 sacks each. Takhi Coates, Ryan Roller and Braden Stern each have 2 interceptions to lead the team. The Rams are averaging 339.3 yards a game and allowing 159.7 yards a game. The Rams have outscored the teams they have played 234-56.

For the Falcons they are led by Nick Barahona 38/62/598 yards with 7 touchdowns and 1 interception. Rushing leaders are Tyler Forbes 88 carries/559 yards/11 touchdowns, Nazaiah Merit 100/510/7. Rec. Leaders Ben Walters 14/303/4, Jake Boyce 7/125/2 and Luke Retrosi 7/107/2. On the defensive side of the ball the leaders in tackles are Tyler Forbes with 74, Gaige Lewis with 47 and Elijah Barahona with 47. Sack leaders are Gaige Lewis with 3, Darien Folks with 2. Interception leaders are Ben Walters with 3, Tyler Forbes and Cully Neese with 2 each. They average 295.8 yards per game. The defensive yards per game were not listed anywhere I looked. The Falcons have outscored the teams they have played 339-101.

Central has had the Rams number over the last several years. Is this the year the Rams get a win over the Falcons. The Rams got a monkey off their back when they defeated Clarke County for the first time since 2012. Both teams like to run it a lot. They seem to be evenly matched. Opinions and Predictions on this one?

2022 NOVA Pick'em Week #11

First, a question: only seven of us have participated regularly but would you be interested in a playoff pick'em? First two rounds would be all games in 5C, 5D, 6C, and 6D. Regional finals through state championships would expand to include all regions in Classes 5 & 6.

On to this week's contest. For this week's Pick'em we have 7 of the 10 games featuring 14 teams that are either undefeated or have only a single loss - all going head to head. Yes, I stepped a bit beyond the normal confines of the NOVA region but this coming week has so many great matchups with huge implications for playoff seeding. The other three games in this week's contest also will significantly affect the playoff seedings. It seems the playoffs have arrived a week early! Note: Two games this week are on Saturday and one is on Thursday, so have your picks in by 7:00 pm Thursday or the Thursday game will not count for you.

Do you want to participate in a playoff pick'em? Yes or No

Grayson at Galax

Thoughts on this one? Galax is coming off possibly their best performance of the season and Grayson coming off their first loss of the season to GW. This is a huge rivalry game with big playoff implications for both teams. I think if Galax plays like they did Friday night they can get the win, regardless should be a good one

2A Week 11 Pick 'em

1 point per game. 2 points for GOTW. Bonus point for winner each week. Pick each teams score in GOTW. (not total) Tie breaker is winning percentage first then difference in points for each team. If games are on Thursday, it's your responsibility to pick before game time. If you miss games that are played on Thursday, you can still pick games for rest of the weekend.
