Anyone ever looked at the On3.com website?

On3.com
I stumbled upon it this weekend, due to someone posting about it on facebook. If you go to the site, then click on high school scores at the top and then click on schools and type in whatever school you want. It post past and future predictions for that teams past and upcoming games. Somehow its shows to be pretty damn accurate with its past picks, I am curious to see how it does on the future games. It predicts the scores and predicts each teams chance ( percentage) of winning. I haven't researched it enough to know what metrics its using...may be a form of AI..i dont know, but i was intrigued by it, and just wondered if anyone else has ever seen it.

Rappahannock vs Essex

Two unbeaten teams with convincing wins. Both have scored a lot of points. Will both be the best team the other has played? Essex is always a state championship contender and had a big win over a larger school. Rappahannock has scored 70 in two games and won big over Westmoreland in the game where they opened their new stadium. Seems like this will be a good one. What does everyone think?

Lebanon remains unbeaten/Beats Richlands 50-14

Lebanon goes to 6 and 0 and led 50-7 at halftime over Richlands. Lebanon's schedule gets tougher the last 4 games as they go to Rural Retreat who is very good and only lost to George Wythe by 10 points, then Graham comes to town and they finish the last 2 on the road at Virginia High and at Tazewell.

Richlands falls to 0-6 and hasn't won a football game in nearly 2 years dating back to mid Oct of 2022 and they have won only 3 football games since November of 2021.

Week 6 Thoughts

Rye Cove has their machine running smoothly as they won in another blowout to set up what some may consider the GAME OF THE YEAR in 1A as they face off vs Eastside this coming week.

Altavista got the W over Appo but a 29-8 score seemed a bit strange when you look at the fact that Appo has not won a game all year. Nevertheless they won and kept their undefeated record and now turn their focus to Dan River.

Essex with a 70pt win over Charles City which is what we expected. They have a big time match up this week when they Face Rappahannock who also is 5-0. Can Rappahannock give the mighty Trojans a challenge? Based on some of this seasons results, that Trojan schedule has been a bit soft to this point.

Buffalo Gap went down vs Stuarts Draft but they are still in prime position to be a factor come playoff time. I think this team will be battled tested and surprise a couple of teams in the playoffs.

Maybe the biggest surprise to me was the fact that Sussex losing to Southampton in the fashion in which they did. 56-8 has me thinking that they may see a 1st round exit this year in Region B

West Point finally Scores a W vs Colonial Beach and looks to string a few wins together to make a playoff push.

Sneaky team to keep your eye on is the Westmoreland Eagles. They score a 47-40 win over 2A Madison County. They should have no problem unleashing that air raid when they face Colonial Beach this week.

Teams are starting to separate themselves from the pack and this week we have a couple of Top 10 Matchups to keep our eyes on. That fall crisp air is upon us and makes for some good football watching weather. Half the regular season is over and playoffs are right around the corner!!!

Non Standard Relief Items Needed?

I’m posting this to the Class 1 and 2 threads because there are a lot more schools in these classes in SWV than elsewhere across the state.

There are an untold number of people putting together relief efforts for our neighbors in the affected areas of VA and NC. Today, my wife learned of a neighbor that was loading a trailer and headed to Damascus soon. She had read that some things get overlooked when considering what to send. A couple of items she saw that were needed where flat point shovels and heavy garden rakes. Also, 5 gallon plastic buckets. So she bought a bunch of these items and took them to our neighbor.

This brought me to ask you folks that are most closely associated with the disaster, what is needed that is being overlooked. Suggest it here and I’ll spread the word.

Thank you.

What caught my eye, Week 6!

Rocktown getting that first victory.

Senseless violence that cost innocent kids on two football teams the chance to play a game. Meadowbrook/Matoaca cancelled because of a stabbing at Meadowbrook that had nothing to do with football. ( I don’t disagree that they needed to cancel the game, it’s just disgusting that kids trying to do right suffer because of punks.)

How about the shellacking that Amherst put on the Blue Streaks? Those Lancers are rounding into form.

Boy, how about that GW/MV game? I would have loved to be there for that one. GW fought from behind most of the game and made the plays when they had to. Making the win more amazing is that I was told that GW had 230 yards in penalties. I don’t know for a fact that that is accurate, but if it is, that’s amazing to overcome that. It also tells us that they better fix that problem fast and in a hurry.

Kings Fork dominating a good Indian River team made me take notice.

North Stafford beating Eastern View didn’t surprise me, but I’ll use this opportunity to say, “I told you so!” Nothing bad to say about Eastern View, it’s just that this NS team might be the most improved team in the state from last year.

Phoebus easily handled their long time rival Hampton today. That’s 40 wins in a row for the Phantoms.

I’ll close with Dinwiddie defeating Thomas Dale at Thomas Dale. The Knights and Generals played this game the way you want teams to do. They put it all out there on the field and didn’t hold back. And for a rivalry of this magnitude and importance, It was played clean and fair. I believe this was the best game Dinwiddie has played this season.(That speaks to how good TD is.) Their effort against Maury was probably as good, but it just didn’t show. The Generals were so over matched against the Commodores that even their best effort was overshadowed by what I truly believe is the best team in the state this year.

The Dinwiddie gang gathered at Sibleys BBQ in Chester for our traditional pre-game meal. I highly recommend Sibleys. Great food and great service. And locally owned, which I prize very highly.

Now it’s your turn. What caught your eye enough to make mention of it?
