Great job 2kings4 - thanks for your work - seems a little West heavy which is certainly understandable considering that is where you are from!

I would just add for your consideration what I am thinking are the top 5 eastern Softball powers (please correct me folks if I am mistaken as I am mostly a football/soccer guy).

In no particular order, Conference 41's (old Tri Rivers/Eastern Shore) top team is Windsor. Conference 42's (old Tidewater plus) main power is Mathews - who you have in there. The NND/Conference 43 is softball rich as usual with three powers - Rappahannock, Essex, and Northumberland. These guys tend to knock each other off...

One of the hottest teams in 1A softball may indeed be Northumberland who is riding an 8 game winning streak (started off 2-4, now 10-4) including some big wins.

Rappahannock & NHS are currently tied at 1st in the old NND at 6-1 while Essex is right there at 5-2. It's a toss up.

Should be an exciting finish for all!

You have Riverheads as number 1 in the east. According to their rschool today page they are 7-11 with a power rating of 4.39. I know they play some tough teams and they beat James River. However, they will not be the number one seed in the Region. Currently Windsor is 1 and Mathews is 2 if you go by power rating, which is how the region tournament is seeded. Last year Riverheads would have been the number 2 or 3 seed but lost in the first round of their conference tournament and did not make the regional tournament.

I had Windsor as a 2a team, my bad on them.

The Riverheads, Mathews comment is backwards will fix that.

I had Rapp. in their the whole way and back and forth on NHS and Essex, like you said they will sort themselves out, with NHS looking strong now.

The west, yes I am Hogoheegee heavy with Chilhowie, GW, Holston, NW, RR, & PH. Any one of these teams could compete against any 1A team and have a good chance of winning.

It is hard to compare the east and west they have no opp. in common to compare too. The east plays fewer 1A teams during the season, but the west has a lot of very competitive 1A teams playing week in week out.

Windsor*, Mathews, NHS, Rap., Essex, Riverheads, Cumberland are the top teams in the east. I think it will be an exciting finish to this year with fifteen teams having a chance to win it all.

I was thinking Riverheads as a two in the east, before Windsor now a three and all because of like you were saying Riverheads handled James River (James River is a very good team this year) twice 4-3 and 8-0 in their last meeting, when James River has beaten my top teams; Galax, Auburn, and PM this year, what does that say about the West when a 7-11 East team seems better then the top west teams? maybe I have them over rated

Chilhowie softball beat Galax 4-1 yesterday at Chilhowie. The two teams play today again
At Galax.

You are right, very competitive Conference. For those that follow newspaper account of the sport,
The Roanoke Times had the score 4-1 Galax, and the Bristol Herald had the score 4-1 Chilhowie,
Which was the correct score. Roanoke Times had everything backwards, very weird.

Update: Wednesday game at Galax score : Chilhowie 5 Galax 3

I think the RR score is backwards also, RR beat Galax 6-1 on Monday, I read somewhere they had Galax winning.

I seen the RR/Galax score also; it surprised me.

Just my 2 cents worth; Parry McCluer is still king until someone knocks them off.
Auburn and Patrick Henry are very good, and will be hard to beat in the West.

Holston is always very good, and Chilhowie has won about 12 straight with a big win
Over a good 3A Abingdon team. The West will be a war come playoff time.

Northwood, George Wythe, and RR can play toe to toe with all the other Hogo schools.
The Hogo District from top to bottom is very strong.

Northumberland over Rappahannock 4 to 2. The two will meet again tomorrow at Rappahannock.
