Some of the penalties were because of inexperience / poor technique as well as Chatham had some really big lineman that were physical and tough to block…so I’m sure there was some holding. The motion and formation penalties need to be cleaned up. Still a work in progress but turned a big corner in team chemistry , cohesiveness and persistence - all three very important traits of a successful team.
On a different note there were a couple times where Chatham used a RB to follow behind the QB and push him for 1st down / touchdown in short yardage situations.- It seemed like a red zone play and not just a spontaneous type thing. Supposedly this was discussed as being illegal during this year’s VHSL rules clinic . I believe it is acceptable in NCAA & NFL. Didn’t hurt us in the end but curious if others are aware of this rule?
