Today the Big River Rivalry returns after a 2-year hiatus due to complications due to the pandemic.

All time the North leads the series 4-3 with the last meeting going to the South, 20-19 ironically enough in 2019.

South wins the coin toss, chooses to defer. North squad is in blue unis, South is in red. Along the north squad not playing today is Varina's own Myles Derricott.

North came away with no points on their opening drive with a 34-yard field goal attempt no good. South is now backed up at their own 8 facing 3rd & a mile.

North blocks South punt but there are no rushes on punters in this game so it does not count. On the ensuing punt the Springers Caron Ferguson leaves the field in the dust with a touchdown return. With 3:36 to go in the 1st quarter the North leads 7-0.

South had a second TD by Trai Ferguson called back due to pass interference. South went backwards and was forced to punt.
