Absolutely amazing high school football game. Griffis played an amazing game at QB and converted a 4th and 14 with 30 seconds left before throwing the game winning touchdown the next play. Number #24, the slot receiver for BR also played an amazing game got hurt on that huge 4th down conversion after making the catch. They have a physical, well coached team that also has great mental toughness.
Chauncey Logan played an amazing game on both sides of the ball for Salem, including a strip touchdown. It might not have been a bad idea to throw 2x more passes to him in this game. Stacy Williams going up against Alex Birchmier was a great battle all game and Williams gave the Broad Run offense a lot of problems.
I know that Salem was in trouble when I found out who was going to be out this game. DT Cameron Martindale, who is probably the best defensive player in the state could not play and they also found out late in the week that DE Peyton Lewis and starting CB Moyer were not going to be able to play. I would have loved to see this defense at full strength in this match-up but that is life. They still had opportunities to get a stop and win the game but didn't make the plays they needed to.
