Chauncey Logan Jr (Deuce), former Spartan, wins Defensive ROY

One of the better high school players I’ve seen in the past 4 years. JMU got them a good one and I’m willing to bet that he’ll put himself in position to play on Sunday’s.

Massive recruiting miss by VT on Chauncey. I tried to tell as many people with the program as I could about him but they didn't listen. Shoot, he would have started for most of the year as a true freshman.

Looking forward to seeing his younger brother Coen play next year for the Spartans.

Class/position?

Definitely not a miss for Chauncey though. JMU is clearly the better program right now.

Agreed. JMU is looking like the best run, best coached and better option in the state of Virginia right now.
VT, UVA and ODU have a lot of work to do.
I agree! Liberty was in the category with JMU but we will see how it goes with the new coach coming in.

JMU will be washed by the major state schools within 2 years. ACC prowess is too much when the coaches are actually invested in recruiting the state unlike the ones of years past. The sun belt is a solid conference but nobody will mistake any team within it for a P5, can they compete undoubtedly but they’re not going to to keep taking the state schools to the woodshed for recruits or on the field. I think an example of this is how tech lost to odu but the Hoos beat them. App state fell off a cliff shortly after the UNC game, the list continues, nobody is knocking the dukes or the sunbelt but there’s a reason it’s group of 5 versus power 5. Does the team have p5 players undoubtedly so, but the rosters aren’t littered with talent who could run the ACC gauntlet.

Until VT and UVA makes that "turn"....I'm betting on JMU. VT & UVA are in the tank right now. There's nothing special about their programs today. Clemson is the class of the ACC right now and they're insignificant this year.
I'd put W&M ahead of VT & UVA right now. Unfortunately....thanks to Fuentes and Bronco...

Playing at VT and UVA is a 1000 times cooler than JMU.

Fixed

Congratulations to this young man. Starting as a freshman at any D1 school is a quite the accomplishment and to win ROY well that's icing on the cake. I enjoy seeing all of our Virginia players do well in college especially the Class 4 guys we discuss on this board.

So you are a band guy, gotcha. Southbottom= band guy.
Dang right. Renaissance Man. Love a good band. I can tell you best college bands in country--no particular order. TEXAS am, Ohio St, Wisconsin, JMU . Widen your horizons. I guess you're sole focus in life is jv football. I just happen to have broader horizons.

Great point @WP02alum. Liberty has the best of the best. I have attended football games at every D1 University in Virginia and most of the ACC Schools. I have not been to Syracuse, Boston College or Florida St. I am a bit biased, but with the exception of Clemson it's hard to beat a night game at Virginia Tech. I get chills everytime the chant "Let's Go Hokies" begins. With that being said Liberty and JMU crowds are decent. UVA, Old Dominion, Hampton, and Norfolk St. Have work to do. I actually like watching games at UVA, because all of the seats provide a good view of the action. The atmosphere and could care less if we win fans bug me. I know East Carolina is not in Virginia, but I really enjoy going to games there.

I'm an UVA guy, but even I get chills watching the Enter Sandman intro. The best thing about college football is each school's traditions, routines, and rivalries. I'm afraid a lot is being lost in the pursuit for $billion TV deals. I don't want NFL lite.

HS freshmen have NIL valuations now.

Incoherent is another word for you don’t understand what’s being talked about.

There is stock in playing for a P5 conference if you are at a school like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, etc..., but those conferences also have schools like Colorado, Vanderbilt, Northwester, Indiana, etc... I would rather be winning conference championships and going to a bowl at a school that is consistently at the top of the AAC, MAC, WAC, Sun Belt than always having a losing record in a P5 conference.

Brett Griffis who went to Broad Run last year and led them to a 28. 24 victory against Salem is leaving Wake Forest and going to JMU next year.

I’m sure it is because of the band.
The band, the coaching, the excitement around the program, close to his home, excellent education---long list of reasons that the program at JMU is becoming increasingly more attractive to recruits and transfers than the traditional in state powers of UVA and Va Tech. Last time Va Tech played JMU the Hokies found out ----new Sheriff's in town.
