Coach Schrotenboer advanced over Coach Baltimore of Powhatan with 100% of the vote.
Coach Bedwell advanced over Coach Richards of Varina 90% of the vote.
Two of the most successful LC Bird coaches ever pitted against one another in this 2-7 matchup.
David Bedwell needs no introduction as he is among the great to come through the region. He coached at Henrico from 1997-1999 guiding the Warriors to the 1999 Class 5 Final before taking the job at LC Bird. At LC Bird of course he won multiple region titles and was a 3-time state champion from 2012-2014. Bedwell has a career playoff record of 30-15 to go with the state titles and now he is at Hermitage where he looks to build on his record of 201-43.
Glen Schrotenboer however is a name many around the region recall, especially Skyhawk Nation. Coach "Dutch" as he was known laid the foundation of what LC Bird football became. For 10 seasons(1982-1991) Coach 'Dutch' took the Skyhawks to heights never achieved before including a Division 6 State Final appearance in 1991. 6-6 in in 6 playoff appearances, the Skyhawks under Coach 'Dutch' had 8 winning seasons and were 85-27. Before Bedwell Coach Schrotenboer was the iconic coach of the Skyhawks.
