One game beat the weather. The other, not so much.

Millbrook 4, Loudoun County 0

Sherando at Heritage ... rained out. Quite the monsoon that came through east Leesburg on Tuesday night. Rescheduled for 4:30 Wednesday. More rain coming, so good luck with that. They might get on a field by Thursday. Might.

Winner travels to Millbrook later this week for Conference 21 championship.

Thursday's Conference 21 Final:

Sherando (14-5) at Millbrook (19-1), 6 p.m.

Should be a good one. Millbrook 3-0 vs. Sherando, but two wins have come by one run.

Sounds like the Northwestern teams may be a little better than the Dulles teams thought.

Millbrook's been very good all year and Sherando has come together well the last month or so.

It would be interesting if these two played Loudoun Valley, one of the top teams in 3A. The Vikings are pitcher-heavy and would present a good challenge.

Final: Millbrook 5, Sherando 4

Millbrook takes advantage of Sherando errors to lead 5-1 early then holds off the Warriors behind the pitching of Eric Braithwaite and Colin Benner (save).

Strange game in the field for SHS. It made six errors, leading to four unearned runs scored by Millbrook. But the Warriors also had a trio of web gems too. Whitacre had a diving catch in right that saved at least two runs and Fox had a catch for the ages, scaling the fence in right to rob Jaye of a two-run homer. One of the best catches I have ever seen for a high schooler,all I'm sayin'. Entsminger also made a sliding catch in shallow center field that would have been the highlight of the night in most games.

Cudos for Sherando pitching to keep competing despite the infield woes (all six errors came there). Michaud did a decent job, Entsminger threw an inning for the first time since late March, and Fox had two scoreless.

Good luck to both teams in the 4A North Region. Hopefully, they can play again.
