After winning a single game last year, Essex won their season opener 3-0 over Mathews. Still lots of games to be played but this young team (7 underclassmen started today) has plenty of potential.

This Essex team should be much improved. A lot of the freshmen on this team was very successful at the youth level, making it to the state level at least once plus they've played on some successful travel teams for years. Definitely a good start to the season.

Essex also returns a pitcher who has been out most of the last two years. Good young players, mixed in with some experienced pitching. Could be a successful season for the Trojans on the diamond.

Won one game last year? Geez, Essex used to be regional contender every year and state contender in better years. What Happened?

They must have lost ten games by two runs or less. They lost to the state champs 3-0 and 3-1 both games they played last season. Out of conference schedule was ridiculous. It is hard to bounce back sometimes when you lose a bunch of games early by a run or two. They should be returning to their winning ways for the foreseeable future.

Well, Essex got pounded today by King William 11-3

KW has a pretty talented team. Already beat a good Rappahannock team 7-2 last week and shutout W&L yesterday.

Sounds like may be another team coming out of east instead of rapp.

Rapp is rebuilding with 3 or 4 frosh on the team. King William is 2A
