Hello All.... As expected, Parry McCluer "BLUES BROTHERS" Senior Thrower, K J COOK and team mate Junior, JOSH FISCHER took the top two spots in the Shot event with team mate and PM Senior, JEREMY NELSON falling in line in the #4 spot behind the tough Auburn Freshman who sealed the third spot with an impressive showing at the 1A West Regional Meet back in Radford on Saturday, May 27th... COOK sealed the top spot in the Shot event with his next to last throw in the finals with a heave of 56'-7"... FISCHER followed Cooks lead and improved with his first toss in finals of 52'-6", which tied his "PR" for the season thus far in Indoor/Outdoor competition.. PM Senior, NELSON continued to struggle with his follow through and eventually finished in the four spot(46'-11")giving up the 3rd place finish to an impressive performance from the Auburn Freshman.. The Auburn kid is going to a hand full in the next couple of years for everyone. He has great size, strength and speed AND he's still learning... Write that down!! COOK also sealed the top spot in the Discus Competition and on the way QUALIFIED for NATIONALS with a "PERSONAL BEST" heave of 178' and some change... FISCHER, the PM Jr. struggled in the Discus today scratching all three of his throws, thus failing to make a mark and ending his competition for that event for the day... Nelson's best throw in the Discus competition was 108' and change.. Both COOK and NELSON(if he qualified)forfeited their spot in the finals and headed back to the city for graduation ceremonies... Overall, still an impressive showing for the Blues Throwers and they are looking forward to next weeks STATE MEET at Eastern Rockingham High School... Best of Luck to everyone and hope to see you all there for your continued support of your favorite Student Athletes, and as always.... GO BLUE!!!!
