As I mentioned in my article (linked below - contains recaps and HIGHLIGHTS of all four games), I thought this was the first time four Southside schools made the regional final four. Let's look at it:

- In order for the final four to have been all-Southside, the eventual regional champion would (obviously) have to have been team from the south. That lets us eliminate the vast majority of seasons right off the bat. We're left with 1971, 1972, 1980, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2011.

- The regional runner-up also needed to be from the south, which, of the above list, leaves us only with 1971, 1972, 1983, 1991, 1994, 2006, 2008, and 2010.

- Because only district champions reached the regional tournament until the mid-70's, and the Colonial always had a representative, that knocks out 1971 and 1972. Likewise, 1983 is eliminated, as the Colonial champs (J. R. Tucker) lost to Dinwiddie in the semi-finals.

- 1991, two northern teams comprised the semi-final foes of Midlothian and Dinwiddie. Ditto 1994 and 2006. 2008 saw both Colonial teams advance to the semi-finals. That knocks out those years. In 2010, the Colonial and Capital were matched up in the rotation, making it impossible in the first place.

Therefore, I can now state definitively that this is the first time we've seen an all-Southside final four in the region.
