Dan River jumped out to a 29-3 lead after one quarter and never looked back as the Wildcats kicked off their season with a 69-38 win over 3A Magna Vista. The Wildcats used their speed as they build up a 45-15 lead at half and led by as many as 39.

Junior Bryson McLaughlin led the Wildcats with 14 points. Devin Stone had 13 points and three assists, and two steals while junior Jaylan Fitzgerald had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jaquon Durant chipped in nine points, while Zemar Anderson had 8 points and 10 rebounds. Daniel Dickerson had 6, Duane Brooks had 4, and Reggie Venable had 3 points.

Magna Vista was led by Yatrell Fountain with 11 points and Akira Greenfield with 10 points.

The Wildcats (1-0) host Tunstall on Friday.
 
Not surprising at all. MV will definitely struggle this year, lost all their firepower to graduation and also have a couple of kids who may not play due to football injuries

Austin Perkins and Cam Paige are two that I know of that are hurt. They actually had a pretty good player on JV (#21) that should start on varsity IMO.
