APPOMATTOX ? Karyl Smith had five kills and seven blocks as Dan River swept Appomattox 25-17 25-20 25-23 Tuesday night.
Carley Ford finished the night with seven kills and Courtney Smithers added four aces as well as 14 assists. The Wildcats (14-4, 7-3 Dogwood) do not play for the rest of the week before hosting Altavista on Tuesday, October 23.
Gretna 3, Chatham 1
CHATHAM ? Liz Herndon's three aces, four kills, and single block were not enough for Chatham to hold off Gretna in the Hawks' 25-17, 25-21, 25-27, 25-16 victory over the Cavaliers.
Morgan Fitzgerald had 10 services points, two aces, and four digs while Katie Nicholson added 11 kills and three blocks. Kelsey Scott also scored three service points, two aces, and three digs.
The Cavaliers next play at William Campbell on Thursday.
