Bulldogs led 20-16 at the half but couldn't rebound with GW's size in the 2nd half. Got it to 39-37 with about a minute to go but the Eagles hit their free throws to win. Great effort on the Dogs part. Jeez, GW is long and athletic and very deep.

Big time atmosphere in the Doghouse tonight. Great high school game. GW looks every bit the part of a small college team other than they dont have the 6'7-6-8 guys.
That's an excellent sign for Martinsville or a not so good sign for other 2A schools that will have to face the Bulldogs come playoff time. GW is loaded and has an incredible team, and yes, even with the loss, playing them within 3 points if a very impressive showing for Martinsville. I hope the Cats stay focused and don't get to confident or a big head with our win over Martinsville when we will play them again in the playoffs. Martinsville plays the toughest schedule in the state of VA for any 2A team. They are going to be far, far better than their record shows when they enter the playoffs.
The Bulldogs have a much better shooting team this year and they handle the ball on offense as a team much better this year. Play mostly a 1 in 4 out on O around 6'5 soph center. Also play better team D this year. But with the schedule sometimes it doesn't equate to wins. Northside was a match up problem, Halifax is well coached and had good size and GW is just really good. Morehead is the only game we lost that we should have won but we played that game without our leading scorer due to illness. The Dogs will be battle tested come regionals, but that doesn't mean they will make any noise in the playoffs, they'll still have to show up and play their game
