How well do Dan River and R.E.Lee match-up?

I think it would be great to see a Lee/Madison rematch for the title but...both teams face tough challenges today.

I'll say Madison by 2
Lee by 3

My Lee prediction is based on not knowing much about Dan River. I figure if they're in the final four...they must be good.

That Madison/Amelia game should be fun. They played an overtime game in the regionals that Madison won by 5.

After last year's Madison team lost to Bluestone, everyone felt that they would have a really good run this year. But when guard Taylor transferred out and big man Breeden was not on the team, expectation were somewhat lowered. Not so much by the players or staff but by most everyone else (myself included).

But the staff and team have really responded well. I am very impressed with the manner they play. They do not get rattled, they play very hard, and they win. Madison is battle tested with several very close contests.

Win or lose, this has been an incredible year. I think they are 26-2. I am like HR6 in football, I hate rematches in the post season! I know they can't be helped though.

Good luck Mountaineers! I think they pull this one out in the end.

I think Dan River wins the next one. Lee has the talent and size to win out but a suit is their Achilles heel, IMHO.

Why did Taylor transfer? Why is Breeden not on the team?

After Lee's thrilling win over the Gate City last night, I sat and thought about the game for a few minutes...

1 - That to me was Lee's first 'quality' win all season - they've beaten some 'good' teams, but not great - and the best teams they played - Spotswood, Martinsville and Madison - they lost to.

2 - The Lee guards grew up last night in a big way, especially when team leader - Darius George - fouled out - and didn't play the entire OT.

3 - Jervis Vaughan showed he is a huge part of Lee this season - he was hugely instrumental in Lee's win last night - no doubt about it.

And probably the biggest thing was the lesson Lee learned from playing Madison last weekend - they had the lead down the stretch, but lost their composure, and ultimately, the game.

I feel that was an important thing that happened - and when they 'gutted' it out last night in OT, they made it over the hump, so-to-speak, thanks largely to that loss last weekend.

This team now has the confidence it needs to go all the way.

They've got the athletes and the skill....everyone always comments on that.

I know it was just one game, but in the long run, it may have been more than just that...
