A prowd day for the Essex Football program. Today, Essex’s RB Kevin (KJ) Dameron verbally committed to Old Dominion University. Also, former star Adarious Jones (DL) who transferred to Bishop Sullivan Catholic High after his sophomore season at Essex, has committed to Texas A&M University. Way to go fella’s. Stay tuned, more members of this Class of 2019 will be announcing in the near future.

Obviously Jones is following Jimbo Fisher to College Station. I always heard he wanted to play at Fla. State. Remember when Pastor Schools drove him to Tallahassee so he could participate in the FSU summer camp after his freshman year? Didn't he play only a couple games at Bishop Sullivan last year due to an injury?

You hit it on the head. He was big on going to Florida State. When Jimbo moved on, that talk was over. I remember when he went down there to a camp. Essex FB page posted photos of him and Fisher. He suffered a knee injury around mid season last year at Bishop Sullivan. He was a starter and was making some noise before the injury. They have him ranked as a 3 Star. I believe if he played a full season last year, he could of been rated a 4 Star. I was certain he would pick VA Tech being that he visited there multiple times. I’ll be pulling for Adarious, KJ and the Franklin player that’s going to ODU. Like RedPride07 said “Love to hear that kids in lower classifications are moving to the next level”.

What does Essex look like this year?
I believe we’ll be in the mix come late November to December. Graduated some star players but still have some good players returning. Some players from an undefeated jv team should mix in well. Defense should still be solid. The one thing I’m eager to see is if the passing game has improved. Lost 3 good WRs in Norman, Johnson and Hundley but a few underclassman got in playing time at that position. I heard they did well in 7 on 7 games. Last year was sophomore QB Ashton Ashlock 1st year on varsity. He has been working hard with his WRs as well as taking in a camp or 2. If the passing game has improved, we’ll be a threat in the air and on the ground.

Thank you. It sure looks very optimistic. We all have questions this time of year about replacing kids that graduated. But Essex has what many schools don't. A program. The old "reload", not rebuild. I have no doubt they will be playing in December.

Hey, got any cooler weather over that way you can share? It hit 100 here today.

Man I wish I had some. It’s not pretty up here in the Neck. With 66% humidity, it’s going to 103 today.
