Your guess is as good as mine. I told those guys in front of me last night if the supporting cast didnt show up against Wenonah then GC wouldnt stand a chance with just 2 scorers. And I was completely wrong. Dean was bad the first half and Ervin himself had them close enough to take the lead. I dont see how that team allowed 2 players to pick them apart. They were far more athletic collectively than GC....they just couldn't stop Dean or Ervin.
Alot of the issue with GC is the players tend to watch Zac and Bradley...just as they watched Mac last year. And when they watch it's usually from the perimeter. So they arent in position for those fortuitous bounces and easy putbacks. No one is looking for to score. Aside from that.... I couldnt explain it. Because the other 3 guys on the court at any given time with Brad and Zac arent bad players. Compton, Vermillion, Sallee, Reed, George, Gose, Hensley, Starnes, and Mack can all score.
Compton went down for GC today with an ankle injury so that could loom huge for the Devils. Not sure how serious it is yet. Hes a solid ball handler for GC and plays good defense. Hes also a really good shooter but rarely takes a shot. Would be a big blow for them if hes out the rest of the season.
