Giles @ Glenvar

Careful guys, he don't like when gang up on him. He will probably have to call #7 for help. They seem to be close. If Glenvar scores 28 on Giles it will be through the air on complete pass breakdowns from Giles secondary. Let's face it. The last three games Giles and Glenvar have played the Bus or Manns have not hurt Giles at all and I restate AT ALL. Like above poster stated Glenvar is where they are because of the defense, their offense is average. I guess if u don't like those facts u can hit the ignore button. Lol
Winger?? I thought you wanted my input on the game. Be careful what you ask for I believe Manns scored the last game, and had more yards than Mann.

Manns is a good little back, I like the way he runs. Hard to bring bring down to be so small. Kinda like our Mann

Come on guys this isn't about us.. Let's use the forum for information and insight instead of childish games. People are entitled to their opinion. Everyone has one but be respectful. If you ask for an opinion your not always going to like the answer. That's why it's an opinion. But, to respond to your post winger. Manns did hurt y'all last game. He scored both touchdowns. If you think about your last comment no team should be able to pass on you if all you have to worry about is the pass. The reason Glenvar was able to beat you through the Air was because Manns draws attention with the run. You have to respect his ability to run which opens up the pass. This goes for the game of football in general.

Both backs are Great! Mann is a awesome RB. I must admit whoever wins the game. I hope they win it all. Like to keep the Championship in the district
This we do agree on. Both are big reasons why both teams are where they are today.

Maybe y'alls rivalry isn't on our level. Never root for someone else in the district to win it all!

We will be getting great weather, dry field, and a great atmosphere. Don't forget the train whistle. One thing that will be missing this year are the insulting posters along the stadium rail. I said last year that seeing those coming into the stadium was a key motivational factor for the Glenvar players and I hope we won't be tempted to do that in retaliation up here.
Glenvar will score more points this time due to having our best receiver back and and a much improved running game since we played a month ago. I'm thinking around 28. Giles will also score more in better conditions but don't think they will be able to score more than 21 on a defense and coaching staff that has figured to stop the G-train. 3rd and shorts will be much more limited like the last two times and that is where the Giles offense thrives. They will win if they get ball control and can convert 3rd and shorts all the way down the field until they wear our defense out. Once they get that going they pop you with a counter for a long one. Keeping the Giles offense to no more than 8 plays a series is key to the game.

Also..Giles doesn't have many good options to attack the line so your coaches will need to "throw" in a few wrinkles to loosen the defense. We have seen other teams try quick out passing to no avail. I don't think your going to get much throwing the ball long down the field either which leaves over the middle or down and out passes. If you can do that you might be able to run the ball, otherwise it's going to be a long night for your running game.

And exactly how does glenvar score...the long ball...maybe...that double fake play action bomb last time was nice...deep down we all know the keys to this one....glenvars won 2 outta 3...their advantage...so let's just go watch and see...should be a good one...just depends on execution from both teams...I've seen games handed to giles...and seen games handed to other teams from giles...focus,execution, and heart are what win games at this point in the season...both these teams have heart...let's hope it's as good as the last one...good luck to all

If the game were played on this board we could sell tickets for at least $50 apiece. Glenvar will be looking to prove that last game wasn't a fluke. Giles looking to prove otherwise. Coach Ragsdale said many times its hard to beat a good team twice in the same year. I think its harder for the winner of the first game to prepare. You won so why change anything? Unlike last year the reg. season game was close so I don't see either team looking ahead or thinking its an easy game. I think the game is won or lost on Clifford's accuracy throwing. But with two good teams, a turnover here, a mistake there or an injury to a key player can turn the game. All about who executes and wins their matchups.

I think a lot of what u say makes since. Having number 7 back will def be something Giles will have to deal with. He is dangerous and also is on special teams. As far as the the running game goes rewards it's hard to say if u are better there. Let's face it, since the Giles game u have played no one that has a good defense and even u can admitt that. I guess that will be determined Friday.

Correct on not having seen a true test on defense. I'm just seeing more heart, speed, and intensity, focus and some power last few games.... Once he gets past a very good oline he's still gonna get 4-6 yards unless you stack the box. If you do that we have a very good passing game to go to. Glenvar hasn't passed much (to my chagrin) because they haven't needed to but it's really helped to build the overall running game and the passing game is still there. IMO Runnin game is the biggest area of improvement since we played you 1st time.

Glenvar has surrendered only 4 rushing touchdowns the entire year.. 2 Galax (1st Game) 1 Giles (4th and Goal), and 1 (4th and Goal) against Radford. Giles (single wing) has only scored 1 rushing touchdown in the last 8 quarters. Just can't see how this will change.
correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Glenvar has only scored 1 rushing TD against Giles in the last 8 qtrs. also

Manns had 2 the last game
From 1 ot two yards out maybe. Busted coverage in secondary that got Glenvar down the field. Glenvar has not hurt Giles with the rushing attack in last three games. It will be be the same Friday. If Glenvar wins it will be because of passing, not running up and down the field like u have on the east monts and Floyds.

Could be the Clifford an Stigall show again. You load the box to stop the run, and the passing game opens up. Glenvar would love 1on1 coverage with Stigall and Stanley.

Giles does not load the box when the play Glenvar. They play the same defense they do every week. Your not going to stop those guys all night, they are to good. When you play their offense u have to try and avoid the big play and make them have sustained drives. Glenvar will have some big plays, they are to good to shut them down completely.

I sure hope revenge will play a major role in a Giles victory. Losing the way they have in the last two games has to be a factor. A blowout loss that just didn't make sense and a last minute field goal this year. Last years playoff loss was a butt whipping by Glenvar but this year, I really thought Giles was going to win. I listened to the game and did not attend so there is no use for me to try and break it down. I will be pulling for Giles to get back on the winning side of this great High School football match up.

Manns had 2 the last game
I thought #7 scored on the double fake pass play...it was a nice play...thought he scored on that...could be wrong....to be honest the running game hasn't been the Achilles heal against glenvar...we'll see Friday...start calm...3 days left

My 2 cents is that Glenvar has to pass well to win. Giles has to complete some 10-15 yard passes to win. We'll all know how it works out around 9 pm Friday night, maybe a litter earlier or a little later.

I agree. If Giles can get the short to intermediate pass now and again that will keep their drives alive and they will score more and have a good chance to win the game, otherwise Glenvar will shut their wing down for business just like in the past 2 games. IMO Giles strategy will be to make Glenvar run the ball to win., They are very afraid of the long ball and they probably think our running game is the weakest part of the offense. I think that is misguided based on a previous post.

I am just another armchair Offensive Coordinator but I would go to the spread and see how Giles responds defensively. If our two best receivers draw double teams I would definitely run the ball right down Giles defensive throat right behind a great Oline. 7on5 or 9on7 is great odds getting 4-6 yards a pop. Control the ball right down the field just like Giles does. If we don't draw double teams somebody is going to be wide open down the field. Giles can't cover our best one on one plus 2 other good receivers on the same play IMO. I would play that game all night long. Glenvar did not have this option the first time because #7 was out.

Giles has to change/add wrinkles to their offense to win IMO and and that is an advantage to them because Glenvar will not be able to prepare for something they have not seen. It is also hard to beat a good team like Giles 3 times in a row. This is a championship feel game. I hope for a great hard fought game, great refs, great field conditions, great weather, and great sportsmanship/respect on both sides.

Very true on making the adjustments. Still uncertain how we are in that department. Especially when it comes to offense.

Honestly I believe we match up very against the pass. I'd suggest staying away from the Beidleman brothers. They can change a game on defense very very quickly. Especially Ryan.

Also of note, it's my understanding we have a few guys that are contributors healthy again. Really liked what I saw against Ridgeview.

And I think I saw someone post Glenvar had us speed wise? Not sure how much of a true statement that is. We have some superior speed by some and way above avg for many others. Overall I'd have to give the overall team speed edge to Giles 55/45 like edge though.

Marty Smith of ESPN is in town for an interview with Frank Beamer and said on Twitter he may take the game in.

Ofcourse the real celebrity, myself, will be there as well! Lol Looking forward to the atmosphere!

I agree that Giles has better overall team speed. Glenvar has better overall team strength. Team that executes the best is going to win IMO. We've got to keep Giles wing contained like last two times and make plays based on what the defense gives us whether that be the running game or the big plays down field. .

Rewards, I'm not sure u will see a team this year, especially in 2A that has Glenvar strength. That's why they have been so good the last two years. Those front four guys on defense is the strength of the team. Don't hurt having them on offensive line either.

I want to complain a little bit. My dad and me are coming to the game Friday, staying at a hotel, then heading to Blacksburg bright and early. Dear lord they jacked the hotel prices up this weekend.

Luckily we got a good deal on priceline!

Not sure about Giles having the speed overall. Stigall and Manns both run in 4.4. Both have breakaway speed. While Stanley and Clifford run in low 4.5. Couple lineman are really quick too. You have to be to stop the run game for Giles.

Appreciate it! I was actually planning on coming to Blacksburg Thursday night and spending the weekend with some friends, but since it's Beamers last game I'm bringing my dad and he has to work Friday, so we decided to come watch the game and just get a hotel. Actually got one for $50. The Baymont off of electric Rd. Shoutout to Priceline!

I'm really hoping emotion will really carry VT and they will play the game of their lives!

And really the only team I don't like is Riverheads. It is what it is ;)
