Henrico won this one in a very close game. 60-53. HSHS had their opportunities to win this one going away, but the easy layups and shots that shoulda' didn't!
Henrico took the early advantage up 18-5 at end of qtr. 1. HSHS had a furious rally in the 2nd to cut the lead to 27-22 at halftime.
HSHS took a 4 point lead in the 3rd qtr. but Henrico just wouldn't go away. HS had numerous easy layup shots that bounced off the rim and a few shots at the charity stripe that didn't fall kept us from winning this one.
Both teams played tremendous defense and it was a fun game to watch in front of a sell out crowd at Highland Springs High School, Henrico connected on 22 of 48 attempts to HS''s 22 of 73 attempts. Right there.... we missed tooooooo many shots.
In my opinion HS out hustled Henrico, but as I said, the shots didn't fall like we wanted. Shaka Smart was on hand for the entertainment and to watch his hopeful (scholarship offered) D'Monte Buckingham play. He scored 15 points.
Good job to both teams and the next meeting 2/6 might go our way! We'll have to wait and see!!
