Let's get the discussion started on this game. This is a rematch of last season's game in Richmond, where Chambers won 24-13.

Chambers had their season opener last week, a rematch from their state title game appearance last season. In that state title game, Cardinal Gibbons defeated Chambers 14-2. Last week, Chambers began their season with a 28-14 win over the Crusaders. I believe this week it'll be speed against speed.

I live in Charlotte now but was born and raised in Richmond, graduating from Hermitage. I remember some good battles the Panthers had with the Springers.

Thoughts on this one?

I believe this game will be close, I don't who will win. The Springers return a lot of players but they lost some key players at the wide receiver position. I know Chambers has a new head coach and lost a few key players from last year. It will a very entertaining game regardless of the winner.

I believe it's going to be close too. I saw Chambers play Gibbons on Saturday online. Chambers has a nasty defense. Offense really good at the way they play with the quick screen passes. HS D will have to be on their A game!
HS is a much better team this year. Offense looks very strong and the defense is really fast.
HS and Chambers are both huge up front on both sides of the ball. This will be a barn burner!

I’m not sure if you realize what Highland Springs returns, but I assure you, all 4 wide receivers on this year‘s team have at least one division one offer. One has already committed to Virginia Tech. The Jr quarterback has offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Indiana.

Anyone know if NFHS Network is streaming the game?
I saw where you picked the game 30 to 21 in favor of Chambers this Friday on the North Carolina board. Interested in seeing where you figured your score from with all the division one talent that will be on the field for both football teams. I know Concepción has committed to NC State and their stud linebacker/running back(#4) has committed to middle Tennessee State. In the other players with division one offers on that offense or defense? I know the quarterback has an offer from Elon and ODU.

I think both teams are evenly matched, but because Chambers has the home-field advantage and has spent more time together as than HS had, I’ll take Chambers in a defensive barnburner.

I give you a hard time, but that’s a pretty great (and honest) prediction.

The Highland Springs Kickin game is still suspect. So, I will take Chambers 21 to 20
I agree! I too believe the 2 teams are virtually equal. Kicking is always an issue with HSHS. It's mind boggling to me that with all the great football players that have gone through this system. Only 1 kicker over the past 20 years or so has gotten the job done. Jayden Alsheskie was the best! It appears that his dad Dennis, (could be?) the kicking coach, but not too sure about that.... he is on the sidelines with the "kickers". Jayden is at UofR now.
Chambers 24 HS 20.

Yes, there is division one talent on the squads of both teams. It's early in the season, so predictions are most often a challenge early. The big one is Chambers is at home. They are very tough at home. They're playing with a chip on their shoulder. They lost a top rated player and their head coach from last season is gone. Concepcion is special. You have to watch him every play. They spread the field wide with their speed and athleticism. With the space they create, they execute the sideline passes and get their players in space. Then they mix in occasional runs through the middle. The Cougars' defense could cause some headaches for the Springers. This is the Springers' first game which is always a disadvantage against a team with a game under their belts. It's going to be tough for the Springers in this game away from home. As opposed to playing other teams in the region at their home fields, this is a true road game. I know a few years ago the Springers played a game in Greensboro against Page. That Page team was young and going through some struggles. Chambers' defense will cause the Springers some headaches. My prediction makes it look like I don't think the game will be as close as others think it is. I think the game will be very close most of the way, with Chambers pulling away in the fourth. Actually, I'd love to a series with Stone Bridge and Chambers as well. This game should be a great game.

Both teams run relatively the same offense. HS isolates their VT committed WR 1 on 1,just like Concepcion. He will return kicks and play some DB too. HS will field 8 FBS defensive players including 2 power 5 MLBs. The offense will have 6 FBS starters including their Jr QB that has 4 power 5 offers. Unlike last year, they had plenty of time to work on the chemistry they didn’t have last year. HS lost 3 WRs to colleges,BUT they replaced them with 3 more D1 WRs.

It’s gonna be hot,so depth could be important. Cramps could be an issue. It could come down to who makes the least mistakes, but I still expect a close game with Chambers having the kicking game advantages. I still think Chambers winning late by FG.

Chambers lost a good bit from coaching staff and the roster. This might be more of a rebuilding type year. I think Highland Springs has a good shot if they show up. Just looking at what they bring back from last season. Should be a tough out. Good luck and hopefully everyone stays healthy.

They’re reloading, not rebuilding over at Chambers. Should be a good game.

It will be streamed on NFHS as the National game of the week! https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/d1-media-pro/gama17f0edf77
This game should have been televised on espn

Is the game being played at UNC Charlotte stadium or at Julius chambers high school

Chambers is a tall task. Watched them the past two weeks and their offense is kind of unconventional. Mix of RPOs, bubble screens, and will hit you with a long pass. Also has a real good running game. Their defense is stout and reminds me a lot of 2018 HS defense. Their secondary is good, but when they go zone, I can see HS getting some points. I like Chambers 28-26.

James Pearce, Jalen Swindell, Daylan Smothers.. Hard to replace guys like that in one off-season. Couple that with the coaching turnover...You're right, they're still going to be good. I just don't see this as a 14+ point game like the rating services have it. I think there's a decent chance Highland Springs wins.

I guess we might have been talking past each other since we both expect a good game. Maybe rebuilding wasn't the right word, but you get what I'm saying. Two very solid programs. Will be interesting.

I'm from the 757. I follow teams from the 757 and central region. I live In Charlotte and I'm excited to see this game in person. I think it will be evenly matched. The springers will need to get the jitters out early because Chambers has already started their season on a good note. However, the Springers are well coached so i will never count them out. Great game to watch on a nice day.

Yeah they beat us last year or an unsportsman like conduct penalty on 2 extra points. Not too bad for a team that never really found its chemistry all year.
I saw that game on NFHS. I wasn't sure of that call either. I kind of felt like there was a little home cooking with that call.

Springers will be fine. I believe they are the only thing standing in front of Chambers and a 15-0 season.

The Springers will be about the third or fourth toughest team they'll play. They definitely have some hiccups Chambers will need to be careful of. Mallard Creek and Hough in their conference will give them trouble. Hickory Ridge could give them some trouble later.

Saw Mallard Creek/Myers Park and Dutch Fork/Hough last week. Wasn’t impressed with either team but it was only the first game. I think the Springers are better than both teams. Chambers will get MC the last game of the year and it’s a huge rivalry so anything goes. Im hearing Hickory Ridge is pretty good.
