The wrong team has D1 offers? That is laughable! 3 touchdown difference? You must have been at the wrong game? You do realize that HS was flagged just as much as MHS. That is how the referees are here!! We are used to it. You won by 1 point, not 3 tds! HS missed 3 xtra points and that was the difference. As I have already stated twice on this thread, Congratulations to Martinsburg Football, you won the game and that's it. It was a good experience for HS's very young team and will learn from it. I am 100% sure that it was a good experience for your football program too. It will not determine whether we make the playoffs or not. We will be there and I do believe our team will go far in those playoffs too.
Good luck to the Bulldogs for the rest of the season and we'll see you next year in West Virginia.

"The wrong team has D1 offers? That is laughable!"

I saw a supposed D1 team get out ran to the end zone and out jumped for jump balls all evening long. So its not too laughable. If you can hold to 3 missed extra points being the difference then I'm holding to 3 touchdowns being called back as the difference. You can have last word. Good luck to HS HS the rest of the season.

I agree and hopefully it was an honest oversight on your part bc I was responding to someone doing the very same thing you're tired of. BTW I'm a neutral observer myself.
Same here. Watched a great game! Didn't realize you were responding to someone 😂

Can we agree that the Martinsburg Bulldogs would compete at 4A and 5A in VA and give teams fits and compete for championships year in and year out. The proof is in the evidence: 3-0 vs programs with 3 or more titles in the last 7 years. HSHS had a chance to win but they didn’t execute well enough, martinsburg made mistakes but ultimately came back to win the game on the road in a hostile environment which takes GUTS. Complain about missed calls/PATs but the truth is that school from WV is forreal and HSHS hasn’t lived up to the hype they’ve been given the last few years, they’re damn good but not who some have hyped them to be.

I would not call that environment hostile. Especially with PA Mom in the press box.

If it were HSHS vs Varina/Herm/Manchester, then yeah.

The problem is Martinsburg doesn't really play anyone the rest of the season. You don't know if they'd compete for championships every year. Not from three games.

This particular Martinsburg team (along with HSHS) is smaller than usual at most positions. A quick and bigger power running team could bully them, but there aren't many of them in VA now. Salem lost most of their O line from the spring. But I'd love to see Martinsburg go through five playoff games in VA. A full game against Massaponax (when they're not down like now) and Stone Bridge would be very interesting.

yes it’s a small sample size but they’ve done something that 99% of Virginia high school teams vs Salem and Highland Springs haven’t done in 4/5A. I think if you can beat them you can hang with the remainder.

Stone Bridge is 38 miles from Martinsburg…I know for a fact from a local AD in Loudoun County that Stone Bridge has been contacted quite a few times over the last 10 years if they had any interest in playing a 2 year series with Martinsburg. The response is there is no room on there schedule for this match up, due to the number of new high schools in Loudon County…I call BS on that!!! That game could be a rivalry game with minimal travel. Let’s hope it can be worked out. They have a 1 game history that was played when Stone Bridge opened. It was not competitive!!!

I agree here. I used to see them all the time, when I lived in western Maryland. They'll probably finish the regular season unbeaten, which happens quite a bit from recent history. The Bulldogs aren't challenged much in West Virginia, especially in the panhandle of WVA where they're located. I would expect the same from Highland Springs seeing their remaining schedule. I was born and raised in Richmond, graduating from Hermitage back in the day. I give cudos to the Springers coaches and admin for scheduling these games, along with the Martinsburg and Chambers coaches for going up to Richmond.

I know there've been discussions here about D1 players on the field, TDs called back due to penalty and the missed kicks. I'm a Charlotte guy now, so I didn't have a dog in the fight. This was a game involving two very good teams, that could've gone either way.

But, one thing stuck out to me, watching this game. Both the Bulldogs and Springers need to cut down on the big plays they're allowing. It almost came back to bite Martinsburg, and now it has come back to bite the Springers twice. It was big plays by Chambers that doomed the Springers in that game.

Against lesser teams you can get away with it. Not in these competive games against very good teams.

Remember we were not the team talking sh.. All we heard about was all the D1 talent HS possessed. “Just count the offers” sound familiar.

Posters on here talking about jv studs getting playing time against us. We drive 3 hours, win the game and now it’s about missed extra points, and how we wouldn’t survive in the brutal Virginia playoffs.

You had your chance and you lost. We don’t claim to be a national power. We are a town of 17,000 that plays damn good football. We could settle and play the weak local teams, win a state championship and be happy, but instead travel to Salem(3 hour drive), HS (2.5 hour drive), go to Cleveland (6 hour drive), and Spring Valley (6 hour drive) all this year. We have 4 home games and 6 away games for the sole purpose of actually playing teams that will challenge us.
Good luck next year.

That's going to be a great atmosphere when the Springers come to Martinsburg. Those Martinsburg fans love their football and are ravenous, in supporting the Bulldogs. I may have to drive up from Charlotte and see that one.

How many times would we need to repeat Congratulations to you? You won by 1 point! You were lucky you survived and you know it! But I'll repeat myself for the 4th time..I even stated, that we HSHS were out coached! My opinion and you probably agree!... CONGRATULATION ON YOUR BIG WIN! Move on...

Not looking for congratulations, you guys just keep digging in that bag of excuses. It should be empty soon. Just admit our D2 talent is better than your D1 talent 😂

How, specifically, was HS out-coached? Give detailed examples.

If HS doesn't fumble at the end of the long run, and they end up winning, were they still out-coached?

If HS doesn't miss 3 PATs, and they end up winning, were they still out-coached?
@Roverheadsreds thanks for your detailed and coherent reply! Sherman should be National Coach of the Year!

Inquiring minds would like to know if You and HooSprings are related??? Seem to have the same mentality!!! Martinsburg won because they were the better team on September 17th…Get over it!!!
That funny oblong ball bounces like crazy! It literally was the of "it's just the way the ball bounces" kind of thing and Martinsburg was on the right side! ... and I believe that HSHS made way more mistakes that MHS did, and that was costly!

They were a contender in 4a last year - lost in the 4th round of the playoffs to Gibbons. Young team, but they have some talent. About like Highland Springs. They run a lot of option.

That's what you guys should do with Foster-Powell. Not necessarily the option, but just feed him the ball. That dude's a handful. You had success in that first half against Martinsburg running it, then it seemed like you got away from it a little bit in the second, even though he had that one long run. I'm sure Martinsburg made some adjustments. It was hard to tell from the livestream.

Good thing is it won't keep you out of the playoffs. I'd imagine you're probably favored the rest of the way. And I'm sure Martinsburg is too.

HS has a 10th grader on JV that is built like and runs the ball like Foster-Powell. He is a beast on jv! Name is Elijah Williams. I have a feeling he'll be on varsity by play off time. Kind of makes me wonder what HS will look like next year, being so young, with 2 down hill beasts in the back field and the up and coming QB!
