Let’s make a poll to see who thinks Tony Spradlin was out of bounds on that catch. You know the one Mr. maroon dude.
We all know he was out of bounds. What's lost with that play is it would have been 2nd and 10 from around the 20 even if he was called out. Refs miss calls. Part of the game

You’d think it was a walk off touchdown with how some people talk about it 😄

They gave him the touchdown which he didn’t get, that play changed the game in my opinion. No matter what you say that could have happened after, that was one of the worst calls ever.

Unfortunately bad calls are part of the game. Every game has them. I have reffed sports and it's very easy to miss something . This was definitely a missed call. Amherst still had their chances to win the game. Eventually falling in overtime. I agree that maybe Amherst could have stopped Salem or maybe Salem still scores.

Yes refs miss calls but that one shouldn’t have been. He was standing right there and anyone could clearly see he didn’t get it. Sorry but that was bad. The statement that Amherst still had their chance! That call changed everything.

Same as Salem worried about the hurdle call.

Leave no doubt. Errors will occur, whether they ought to or not. But there are 80+ other plays in the game to execute.

This. I have always told my son , never leave it up to the refs. We always hear “control what you can control” and all that, but ultimately you have to execute on all the other plays and put the game away. Sometimes it feels like you have to beat the other team and the stripes some nights, but in reality, the kids AND the refs are all humans out there, and they will all make mistakes at some point. It’s how you choose to react to it and how you adjust/adapt/overcome and finish.

I didn't ask anyone to wax philosophic about the stoic nature of competition. I asked if what the kid did was illegal. I didn't ask if the refs are human. I don't think Elon imported extra terrestrials for the game.

Yall playin yourselfs.

The ref missed the call. It's part of the game. I think he stopped reffing after that. Yes Amherst still had a chance to win the game in regulation and in OT

Yes he did quit after that. So did Salem have a chance to win after they got the touchdown handed to them. I guess they didn’t need it

Yes they did. Had to score in overtime and stop Amherst. It's not like it was the final play of the game.
I was in a game one time where the WR caught the ball with his knee on the ground. Then proceeded to run for a 40 yrs touch down. He was obviously down but the reff didn't call it. Bad calls happen

Really bad calls happen when 6 adults are watching a PAT with 22 in the box and literally one dude rushing... and you still miss it. 12 eyeballs missed it. They should donate their game checks to the Salem Sports Foundation.
