Does John Marshall play a 2A schedule? I looked on the VHSL website and failed to see any 2A schools. Just wondering

not until the regionals. They are the only C2 school in their district this year. Next year both Armstrong and TJ will be C2 but this year the only other C2 schools in the RVA area are King William and Amelia; they are not hoops rivals. So that is a no. When the schedule is released I will be posting it.

How often do their games sell out? Going to be in Richmond next Saturday. Would like to swing by Douglas Freeman for the game. How early do I need to get there or do I not need to worry?

I went to the Westfield game and was surprised there were not more local fans given the quality team JM has. I don't think anyone will disagree that a Westfield win would have been an upset, and you can see by the final score it wasn't close, so maybe that accounts for the sparse attendance but there were very few fans present. The gym is small but there were probably less than 150 fans in attendance.

Westfield is not exactly hoops country. Freeman vs JM is a district game with a great deal of history. I don't know what Freeman has this year but they usually can go toe-to-toe with JM.

I read the graphic wrong, won't be able to make that one (Thought it said Dec 21st, they play Jan 21st). I will be in Richmond next Saturday though. Any easy way to see if there are any high school games in the area worth checking out? Public or Private? Any pre-Christmas tournaments/classics?

Hopewell plays Massaponax. I don’t know much about PONAX this season but Hopewell has started the season very impressive. Hopewell biggest test will be Thursday @John Marshall though

Yes I've watched Hopewell play 3 times so far this year and they're been impressive at 5-0 , they've size and talent to compete with anyone but Thursday 12/19 they play John Marshall will be there first big test. John Marshall is a different level, but win or lose I believe Hopewell will be making a run in 3c for a championship this year at VCU. GOOD LUCK.

TRIPLEHEADER WEEK:
vs Carmel JV/V - Monday.
vs Hopewell JV/V - Thursday.

vs Hayfield V - Saturday @Woodside HS. at 7:30pm.

I think tonight we were looking at the 2A state Champs and probably the 3A state Champs, JM is definitely the real deal and Hopewell is really good team and a 3A championship contender.
