Refuse to let this game be disregarded like it isn’t the biggest game on Saturday afternoon in the state of Virginia. Two of the top 3 coaches in C4 going at for part 3. King George got their “get back” last year after losing in OT to the state champion Generals the previous year. Will the young KG defense be able to replicate last year’s gameplan and contain the high powered Dinwiddie offense? Will Dinwiddie’s secondary be up for the challenge to stop KG’s passing game? It’ll be a lot of athletes on the field on Saturday afternoon.

Watched some KG film and the offense honestly looks as good as it's been. 6 is really good at WR. Defense is definitely not as good as it's been. But they do have pretty good skill guys.

I can't imagine King George getting any stops against Dinwiddie's run game. They'll score some points but this might look like last years game in reverse. 40-20 Dinwiddie

I think KG will struggle in the run game. They have been susceptible to the big play in the run game all year. If Dinwiddie can play mistake free in the run game this game could get away quickly because that allows the RPO game to come into effect. If KG stays in the game it’ll be because they’ve attacked the Generals over the top (passing game) as well as getting a few turnovers. I’m very interested in King George’s first drive to see if they try to establish the deep ball early. Dinwiddie will be up for this game being that they get a chance to try and exact revenge for last year & seeing KG give up 40, 33, 36, 35,42 with many players going both ways has me thinking Dinwiddie could possibly reach 50 if they get a few stops. I’m gonna go 49-21 Generals

Dinwiddie is one of my favorite teams and may even be home one day.. King George is without question the 3rd best offense Dinwiddie has played all year. Maury put up 47, Matoaca put up 39.. Wouldn’t short change that score much. @General172011 I feel like Dinwiddie would have to cause 5 turnovers like they did on Friday to beat them by 3+ scores. I’ve been asked by a few sports people how I see the second round playing out and I think both B matchups are about as even as they come. I don’t think any team is 2 scores better than the other.

My storylines for this game

Dinwiddie and KG match up really well. Neither’s line is extremely big but both play disciplined/assignment football and are well coached. I was impressed with Dinwiddie’s offensive line and what they lack in size (they’re not really that small at all), they make up for it in aggression and they don’t make many mistakes. KG’s offensive line is undersized as well but may be the best coached bunch in the state. If KG’s offensive line gives Koch time, the Foxes will have a chance.

I think KG’s defensive gameplan last year was masterful even though the Generals scored 28. They took the run away from Harry and forced him into passing. Don’t know if they have the DBs this year to force him into 4 interceptions but they definitely can’t afford to let him run and extend drives.

KG’s running game is very very good. Junior Simeon Battle (over 1700 yards total this year) and Pitt commit Charles Johnson are the 1-2 punch. Charles is involved on offense but I’d imagine he’ll get a significant amount of carries on Saturday. Battle may be one of the shiftiest backs in B. He’s waited his turn and has been big play after big play for Lunsford’s offense.

I really like KG’s receivers in this one. Dinwiddie and KG’s best receiver didn’t play last week so we’ll see… Ky’Mani Carpenter and Gunnar Reagar (if he plays) will be a tough match up for Dinwiddie’s secondary. Charles Johnson will get some targets and he will take it to the house.

Both defenses has some holes. Dinwiddie’s linebackers are their strong spot, KG’s linebackers are theirs. I think Dinwiddie’s secondary has more experience but the young boy Hudson Callahan (sophomore) and Carpenter have been interception and PBU merchants for the Foxes.

As I said in the initial post, this game will come down to coaching. Mills and Lunsford are two of the best in the state. Hard to pick against Dinwiddie at home and in a revenge game, but they’ll have to beat KG on Saturday and vice versa.

I think people forget at seasons end last year Dinwiddie was decimated at the skill position. Not taking anything away from KG but it really took the wheels falling off for King George to start pulling away in the 2nd half. I think Dinwiddie will be ok defensively this week because the King George QB isn't a dynamic runner like Bryce Yates at Matoaca.

I'm looking forward to coming down to watch this one. I don't think it will quite live up to the classic from a couple of seasons ago, but I hope we get some good football.

Unpopular as this may sound, I don't see Dinwiddie having too much difficulty with King George. I did see King George beat a pretty bad Spotsylvania team which came out flat but showed signs of quickness. And Spotsylvania's occasional flash of speed, nice play fakes, and full blown carelessness ended up leading this game to finish with *just* a three score win for King George.

I know there is some rain forecast in the region between now and Saturday. Not sure if any is slated to fall in Dinwiddie and I'm not sure if there's any that will fall on Friday. If it does, it may present a sloppy track in the Second Half. And if that's the case, I like the balance Dinwiddie has to either grind you down or hit them with a big running play.

Man we had a linebacker playing CB & our MLB was playing WR 😂😂😂 it got bad. @BoKnowsSports Maury gonna score 40 on everyone unless they choose not to. Matoaca was rivalry game with extremely mobile QB once Dinwiddie finally settled in Matoaca only had one progressive drive the second half. I don’t think KG is Maury and Matoaca. We all get on Matoaca for being soft but if they had a killer instinct they’d be one of the scariest teams in the state. I think it maybe close for a half something like 28-14 but that killer instinct for Dinwiddie will kick in after that. I may be wrong but the dam usually breaks in the 3rd quarter that’s where Dinwiddie will separate themselves. That canon and horse can be intimidating if it’s your first time in that environment

The only question mark I have for KG is the QB play. I have also been on record saying that on here last year and they torched everyone in B. Different year, different QB. I think if Koch gets time and don’t turn it over like the EV game, King George will give Dinwiddie all they want and possibly win. Last week I gave a bunch of conjecture. Powhatan was a huge disappointment , King George is legit. I’ve seen all 4 Region B teams play, really not a big difference in 1 through 4.

Will you be there Friday?

I do not believe this game will be a blow out, but I do see Dinwiddie winning.

Something no one ever mentions about the Generals is their conditioning. Just like Dinwiddie last season King George plays a lot of people both ways, especially their studs. Dinwiddie's pounding running game and the natural sod has a way of wearing teams down.
Both Matoaca and Powhatan kids cramped up starting halfway through the third quarter. Thought we were going to have to get out the magic sponge.

What a great weekend for Region B football and Class 4 in general. A lot of good matchups.

I was told it’s almost sold out 🔥
I’ll check tomorrow with the AD, but that is probably not accurate. If memory serves me correctly, we have about 4000 seats. (Now mind you, that’s based on the average size butt in the 70’s.)

We had just shy of 3000 paid attendance at the Matoaca game and another 1000 would have about filled the place up.

I doubted that it would be an unusually large crowd, but then I started hearing about the interest of people that have not been to a game all year. So maybe it will be packed?

I’ll tell everyone this though, get there early. The traffic gets so congested on Courthouse Road that you can spend an hour getting into the parking lot if you arrive only 30 to 45 minutes before game time.

He's talking about Varina and Huguenot @DinwiddieProud.

I'm glad I just scrolled through this thread again. Just purchased my ticket! See you all Saturday!

Going with Dinwiddie big

King George’s lack of defense. Dinwiddie should have the speed to disrupt the KG qb and bust the big KG plays.
Agreed. I watched a bad and uninspired sleepwalking Spotsylvania team even hang 42 on them. We might differ in definitions of a big win, but I would be comfortable picking Dinwiddie to win by three scores (between 17 and 24 points).

Spotsy game was ugly. Kids get up for different teams and KG is the Super Bowl for that district. I do think KG’s young defense has been very shaky, but so has Dinwiddie’s. Both teams will score on each other. I believe it’ll come down to if KG allows Harry to extend drives. Powhatan had some success on defense, but no offense to counter. KG has way more athletes than Powhatan and has matched up very well with Dinwiddie the past 2 years. No team remaining in Region B is 3 scores better than anybody IMO..

It should be good Sat afternoon football weather. Comfortably cool, breezy, on again/off again sunshine. Hopefully a fairly large, loud and lively, crowd. The playing field is in fairly decent shape, especially for this time of year. May the best team win Saturday and march on and become the State Champion.

Incidentally, at 6:00 pm on Sat. the community is having a fund raiser to help support a lady in our community that is battling cancer. It’s a chili cook off, and it’s being held at a venue called White Oak Manor. White Oak Manor is only about three miles south of the football stadium. Also, the dress is very casual, so don’t be misled by the name of the venue. At last report there are over 100 folks bringing what they think is the best chili you have ever eaten. Of course, the judges will narrow it down to the best 5, and then select someone’s chili for immortality. So come out and be a part of history…, well…, at least history until the next great chili cook off.

If you can come, please do so. If you can’t make it but would like to make a small donation, just find Bleeding Navy or myself at the Press Booth on Saturday, and we will see to it that your donation is placed in the proper hands.

KG has no defense. Dinwiddie takes this one without too much trouble for my money.
