Now that it's been released on social media, here's the official schedule for King William for the 2025 season. Once again they will be battle tested

Amelia- A
Westmoreland- H
Essex- A
Caroline - H
John Marshall - H
Armstrong- H
Halifax- A
Mecklenburg - A
Mechanicsville -H
Colonial Heights -A

Very good schedule! Good for them not playing any district games and playing C4 teams along with contenders Armstrong, Essex and Westmoreland. Coach Moore is my guy, happy for him and Pat Kane for building King William into a contender.
Yeah no more district football games for the foreseeable future. They'll also scrimmage Prince George and Tabb. They'll be a young team overall this year, but still talented.

I’m hearing K&Q won’t have a team this year 🥹 I hate it. I’m hopeful that KW can join the NN District soon!

I haven't heard for sure about King and Queen, but it wouldn't surprise me. They were senior heavy last year and in a school with only 150 kids, you're always going to have issues fielding a team. I was there for a couple of years as an assistant and even during a good year we only had about 25 kids.

Scott is my guy also....we played together in high school. I was a year ahead of him...not a better human being on planet Earth.... #BET

Yes, the district part really doesn't matter in today's times.
Which is really unfortunate. I still think that teams need to play a full district schedule or go independent. And if a school chooses to go independent, then they should join other schools in an open division. But that's a topic for a different and a different board.

Not mad at this idea. There are some situations, if even a handful, I think both district and team benefited from not playing the full schedule. But yes in most cases I still like a full district.

As a WP alum, I’m bummed that the ‘99 win will continue to be the last W against the in-county opponent. I understand why the shift, but I selfishly want WP to get a crack at them every year.

I was a freshman at WP on Coach Moore’s second ever team as JV head coach. We went 7-0. Still have our “Get on the bus!” shirt celebrating the season around here somewhere. Was sad to see him struggle as the varsity WP coach, but I knew it wasn’t a reflection of his abilities. Kane is an incredible assistant to have!

Kane is actually the AD now.

Pat Kane and Scott More, two Hermitage legends! Glad they finally won a championship together.
Me too. I don't know Kane very well but I do know the man is extremely knowledgeable about the game of football. As for Coach Moore, he is one of the classiest guys you will ever meet. Kane was the OC on the state championship team, then stepped away for a couple of years, but now he's in his first year of AD.

THAT WAS A TWO PART STATEMENT.
JOINING THE DISTRICT DOES NOT REALLY MATTER
KW was in a NO WIN situation in the Tidewater District. No one was capable of competing with them...beating the wheels off of them was just worthless. Every team in the District belly ached about playing them.
I'm relatively pleased about the NO DISTRICT games schedule. The rest of the district doesn't have the enrollment numbers of KW. Let them battle it out for a District Title. Let KW get the battle wounds and experience of playing a tough schedule. Both sides "win" IMHO.

Everybody complained? Cmon, everybody? You sure?
You know what I mean....you're an outlier. I also happen to not like losing the game with WP....it's a long rivalry, with a lot of history.
There has always been a large number of cry babies in the TD. The town of WP was FULL of them. But of course, it's easy to be sour about it when WP has only beaten KW twice in over 45 years...so there's that. 😂

I’ve noticed that Middlesex (and maybe some others) have been ducking that game. Seems to me that WP has always just taken our medicine despite the streak. I dunno. I grew up in town, but haven’t really lived there since 2002.

I wouldn't necessarily claim that EVERYONE in WP feels that way. WP has a history rich in athletic successes. The older crowd is proud of it and they would never duck the opportunity to play KW.
It would serve this discussion justice if you acknowledged that my "EVERYONE" comment was a generalized comment about the "general" schools fanbase...NOT every single person. But if you insist on splitting hairs....that's on you.
Regardless of our "head counting", the old TD members can now fight over a district title that means absolutely nothing these days and it's more worthless if you win it without playing AND beating KW....and we're OK with that.

Nah, I wasn’t trying to split hairs. If the WP FB coach & admin don’t want the game, it is what it is. I’m not plugged in there at all. I would not have expected that though. Like I said, I’m wise to the issues KW has had with other TD members, but didn’t realize the WP leadership was also against playing KW in football these days.

I don’t disagree. Football district titles aren’t valued much around the VHSL in 2025. Claiming a title when everyone is ducking the best team in the district does seem silly.

I read online today on the Rappahannock Times website that it is official that King and Queen will not field a team this fall. That came from the KQ AD. Really stinks for the kids who want to play, especially rising seniors. However, it's been an issue for 30 plus years. When you have a school with only around 150 kids total, it's hard to field teams on a consistent basis. Even during their successful 4 year run that ended a couple of years ago, they only had between 20-25 kids. The struggle of small school football.

I get what you’re saying but they really could field a team every year with 25-28 guys (without a JV program), consistently, and actually be pretty good. The football staff have a lot of stuff working against them and the kids know that they can skip practices or half tail things and get away with it cause it’s not like they have 3 guys behind them to replace them. The culture is really graduate and go find a job after high school in K&Q County, which I’m not knocking, but goes to my point that football and sports in general aren’t even on the hierarchy of priorities for most. Coach Darity is a good man, I’d hate for K&Q to lose him.

I know firsthand as I lived in K&Q most of my life and have coached football there as an assistant. Sports definitely aren't a top priority for many of the kids there. What really hurts in my opinion is the county, while being very small in numbers, is 70 plus miles long. For many kids, it's an hour just to get to school. Now, they do have activity buses that drop kids off at a couple of different locations after practice, but even with that, they have trouble getting kids to come out for not only football, but many other sports as well.
