Last time these guys matched up was spring of 05 in the reagion tournament at Monticello with Chatham getting the vicctory over the Mountaineers...How does everyone see this game turn out? As for the other side...Dan River puts on a Highlight show on Bruton and RE Lee vs Gate City could be the best game of the year!!
Madison vs Chatham

Chatham is about to exit the tournament. I haven't seen Madison County, but based on what I have read, and scores with Chatham against GC, and also losing to Richland's, I imagine this one gets ugly quick. I will write this though......if Chatham somehow were to pull off a W, then that is a bad, bad sign for the East.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Madison dominates this one. I don't think Chatham has the horses to compete. I'll say a 25+ pt game. No disrespect to Chatham....They made it a long ways and seem like a classy bunch.
At this point in the post season, no one should be counted out. Chatham has some big wins and is obviously a very good team. I expect a close game either way.
Max Preps shows Chatham beat Dan River back in December, just wondering if that is correct and what has happened to the team since then? Not taking anything away from them they have some great wins under their belt! But as of lately have some bad losses. Just trying to get a bead on these guys. Im sure they are scrappy and athletic but if so what happened in these recent games the last few weeks?
It's correct. Ran some kind of zone to perfection that night and beat Dan River.
I couldnt understand why GC wouldn't run a zone against them. GC has alot of the same mentality as DR I suppose.....GC will NOT play a zone when it matters. (DR I guess never runs a zone) I'm all for doing whatever works. Chatham beating DR earlier in the season just goes to show you that anything can happen in high school sports on any given night. I myself thought DR looked like a 25-35+ pt better ball team....Yet Chatham held them to the 40 pt range and came away with a W. Bruton needs to take note.
The same applies to Va High hammering Richlands in their conference tournament. Virginia High had a losing record coming into that game if I'm not mistaken. If you do play a zone and the other team is just cold and can't hit a shot, and you can rebound and only give the opponent 1 shot, you have the potential to be in games. Also, if you are that zone playing team and come down the court and shoot the ball lights out, it makes for an interesting game, and it can sometimes close the talent gap that is obvious.
Chatham has lost 6 players since then including 2 starters and 2 big role players. 2 of them were leading scorers on their team. They are not the same team but they will play hard and could pull a win off against anyone in this tournament on a great night!
