One of the greatest men and coach at James Wood High School passed away two days ago. Mr. Jerry Kelican was a terrific football coach and teacher at James Wood in the early 80's and the best team he had was probably 1980 , with unbelievable athletes Mike Taylor (Navy) , and Garland Williams ( current Sherando basketball coach) as star players. . They went 10-0 that year before losing to Northside in the state playoffs 7-0. He is and will be a legend at James Wood and the Frederick County community . He was still regularly seen at all James wood games even up till last year. He was a great mentor and friend to many. never heard anyone say anything but nice things about him, he was a true legend . Rest in Peace Jerry Kelican, you will be missed by many.
