According to my radar screen, if playoffs started today, Gretna would travel to Richlands.

Richlands #4 seed, Gretna #13 seed.

If Gretna makes playoffs, I hope we play someone we have never played before. We're gonna have to travel in first round so we may as well go somewhere we've never been before.

Why is Page County not listed?

Also I see currently Wilson Memorial would travel to Buffalo Gap first round if things don't change

Union would also.
Union would be a 4 + hr road trip --- Richlands would be closer to 3hr ---- both great places to play but unfortunate that one team would have to travel that far and all the teams out on the coast complain about travel expenses to travel more than 30-45 miles for game......smh

VHSL does two downloads per week, one is the WEEKLY RATINGS, which lists every team per region, and the all important WEEKLY TOP 20 RANKINGS, which only list the top 20 teams per region.

Both downloads are available on the VHSL football website.

Richlands and Union are both fun places to play. The park Union plays at is full of history and the stands are right on top of the field. So it's a wonderful atmosphere.

Richlands plays on turf and has a rabid fan support, especially in the playoffs. We've been known to travel 5 hours and have more fans than the home team. Example, in 2010 we traveled to Brookville for the state semi. When the gates opened, there were over 1000 people waiting in line. We easily outnumber d the home support that day. It was very much the same at Hidden Valley in 2006. And at Wilson Memorial last year, we brought a very large crowd. The bleachers on the visitor side were full within 15 minutes of the gate opening.

I'd love to see some new teams come out to Ernie Hicks. New blood is always fun as opposed to our playoff slate last year (Lebanon, Marion, Gate City) who are teams we play regularly anyways.

Also I would like to note....it only shows single digit posts for me but Va preps for some reason when I renewed my membership this year would not let me sign back up in my old name and I lost my post count . I have been reading this board for over eight years.

2013 Gate City
brought about 1000 fans to Buckingham. 1st time we ever saw that many around our field.

Come on down to Richlands, Ernie always has a great atmosphere with the rabid fan base here, but it is especially so during the playoffs. To piggy back on what Ryan has said, several years ago we played Blacksburg in the playoffs ( coach Beamers son was playing for them then ) and I believe half or more of our town was there. I remember going to the concession stand to get a hot dog and drink and the game hadn't started yet and they were already out. The lady said they were not ready for such a large crowd. I told her that if they ever had us in a playoff game again or for that matter any game be it regular season or playoffs, to be ready for a large crowd. These old country boys & gals come to watch a good football game, and bring a big appetite with them...lol

Hate to see a team have to travel that far, but like Ryan said, it would be fantastic to see some other teams and their fans instead of the ones we usually play ( no disrespect to Union, Gate City, so forth ) just nice to see something different. I have always heard a lot about Gretna so it would be nice to see them.
To me, there is nothing like a high school playoff game !
I love college football and have been to a couple of Bowl games before, but there is just something special about high school football. I especially enjoy the playoff games on a Saturday afternoon !
It'll be that time soon !

Always nice meeting people from other parts of the state. I met a bunch of great people last year from Haysi when they made the 7 hour trek to play Essex. Happy to say i still keep in contact with a lot of them even now still through FB. Great group of people and probably the best group of fans I've ever met
