This past week saw two top Virginia Class 1 kickers compete and participate at the University of Virginia kicking camp.

Northumberland's Harry "The General" Lee and Riverheads' Peyton Skillman both performed well for the college coaches. Lee has been to other camps as well and has been ranked highly nationally by a kicking site.

NHS' Lee came in 6th place in the UVA field goal competition out of 40 strong high school kickers (Class 6 to 1).

NHS' Lee hit like a 53 yarder. He regularly boots kickoffs into the endzone during games. He only started playing football recently. His 1st high school field goal attempt, he hit a 43 yarder.

Harry Lee also holds a 4.1 GPA and attends the Chesapeake Governor's School in the morning before returning to Northumberland.

Not sure on the details on Skillman but in football last season, Northumberland's Lee and Riverheads' Skillman were both honored as all District and all Region kickers - as Riverheads advanced farther and won the state title as usual- Skillman was named 1st team all State Kicker. I am told he is very good and deserving of all honors.

Both kids have also won honors in Soccer and both boys helped led their team to states this season. Harry Lee is a captain on Indian Soccer and D leader since he was a freshman. Started varsity 1st game for NHS.

It looks like we have two fine kickers - lets see how they compete against each other from a distance. An interesting game within the game....

Of course, we know Riverheads is a machine and will block perfectly for Skillman - NHS has been successful only recently but has had its culture changed under Coach Lewis. I am sure that Coach Lewis and staff will have the Indian special teams on point this season.
