Northumberland wins 29-28 over Surry County after being down 20-7!
It looked bleak for the Indians after going down 14-0. Heads were down and another 3 and out could have spelled doom for NHS. Then a rising sophomore, Delvin Palmer, emerged as a rising star. Palmer took the kick return 92 yards to the house. Certainly the play of the game. Palmer also threw two 26 yard TD passes for Northumberland to take lead in the half. Palmer also ran for a two point conversion.
Jason Smith, Terrance Drake, and Ryan Bunn scored TDs. Some big interceptions and plays at end. Very exciting game. If Northumberland will stay focused, listen to their coaches, stay out of trouble and give 100% on every play, the Indians have the ability to make some noise in the East Region!
