Nice pre-season summary from Chad Ricardo and Joe Ball for NoVA/DC Metro... After you get past the WCAC hype there are nice pieces on Stone Bridge, South County, and James Madison... and mention of some player turnover at Westfield.

Personally looking forward to being out at Stone Bridge Friday night...

P.S. ...and James Madison Fockey opens at Langley to see if they can reprise last year's unbeaten and unscored upon run thru the season...

Concorde:

Westfield 7-3 at best after losing aged out RB.

Madison or Chantilly coming out of 6D.

Big question is if injured Chantilly QB heals up in time for playoffs.

C'Ville is a sleeper. They have a ton of young skill position talent.

Add'l notes...

South County cancelled both last week's scrimmage against South Lakes and this Friday's game at Woodbridge.

Robinson cancelled both scrimmages, but currently has the game at South Lakes Friday on the schedule.

Westfield game vs. Unity Reed moved to 11:00am Saturday morning.

Wow, Westfield loses 2 of their Top Seniors. It could get rough for them. Sounds like Madison will be tough with a Senior laden program that could have been playing in Chesapeake last Spring. That toughness & experience probably should have placed them ahead of South County in their poll.

So glad to some updates from Class 6 C&D on here.

...I think many of the polls focus on individuals on the teams athleticism, i.e. teams that have "athletes" vs. teams that are sound and fundamentally coached that "play up" together. For example, James Madison's team last year the o-line/d-line was called "small" relative to a number of their opponents, and the kids weren't the biggest around, but a lot of the time had superior technique to create leverage against their opponents... and fully play a team game, because they have to. ...I don't think that is what the polls are about anymore (YMMV)

Ponax is SOOO tough because they can force their opponents to stop their team execution on both sides of the ball. They seem to keep things simple so their players can play fast & without hesitation. Madison, South County, Robinson, C. Forge and Manchester seem to have their own formula with the same goals.

That Stone Bridge vs Madison game will be a great battle but like most 1st games may not adversely affect either team in the long run. Both should end up at the top of their District & be ready for a deep playoff run come November.

Robinson...Robinson... watching that game against Lake Braddock in March was just nuts... they have their system...gave SoCo a handful too. ...and it does work and can be hard to defend.

InsideNova PreSeason Top 5

Only includes Prince William Co. Schools. So I am not sure what the point of the article is? Leaving out Fairfax schools is very strange. They report on those teams normally..

There is always so much going on at Freedom, transfers, games forfeited, injuries to key players, etc. I had not realized they lost their starting QB during the Spring season. They look to be the favorite to represent Region B in late November. BUT, I am expecting their chaos to linger in the waiting as it seems to occur almost on regular basis.

1. Freedom (W)
2. Battlefield
3. Patriot
4. Osbourn
5. Gar-Field

InsideNova is basically two separate publications on one website, the remnants of the old Potomac News which covered Prince William County (InsideNova was their website when it was still a daily printed paper), and the Sun-Gazette which covers Arlington and neighboring parts of Fairfax County. There isn't really any connection between the Prince William coverage (usually Dave Fawcett) and the Arlington/Fairfax coverage (Dave Facinoli), they just happen to be posted to the same website.

...James Madison at Stone Bridge pushed back to a 7:30pm kick off (at least the thunderstorms will push thru NoVa by then). Check for updated game times on the various schools athletics sites/Twitter feeds. (Note: every lightning strike w/i 2 miles (I think that's the distance) is an automatic clear the stadium for 15 minutes)
