The old NND and Tidewater teams went 5-0 tonight. Northumberland won over Surry 38-0, Rappahannock won over 2A Nandua 6-0, Essex won over 2A Goochland 29-21, King William won over Madison County 38-4 (4 is that correct?), Mathews over Northampton 14-8. Congrats.

With all the negative news these days, something positive worth mentioning happened this past Thursday as the great and wonderful Bill Curry spoke to members of the Northern Neck community. Mr. Curry spoke to the Richmond County (Rappahannock), Northumberland, and the Northern Neck Tech center school systems in the afternoon and then spoke again to the community at large that night in Warsaw.

He received a thunderous standing ovation both times for his amazing, inspirational speeches! I have heard many a speech and that may have been the best yet. If you ever get a chance, go and hear him. Wow, 72 and still sharp as a tack!

For those that don't know, Mr. Curry was a two time Super Bowl winner as a center. He played for Lombardi, Shula, and Dodd. The great Willie Davis was his main mentor he said. He was also a NCAA Coach of the Year and more.

He spoke of leadership, role models, have faith, love, against racism, about never ever giving up and always help others in your " huddle of life". The audience laughed, were moved and all raved. Mr. Curry said at first that he could not stand playing football, did not want to play center at all, yet his Dad and others would not let him quit. It led him to the love of his life and the best life one could ever have. Great stuff!
