Who wins ?

This one is tough. Patrick Henry has only 2 loses on the year by a total of 6 points and were right in it with a powerful JF squad. Pulaski is 5 - 0 and a pleasant surprise to everyone that has supported them for so long. Even to the many folks on this board that wanted the HC tarred, feathered and run out on a rail following last season. It's a toss up that I would think should lean a little in PH's favor but for sentimental reasons, I think Pulaski can pull it out at home. It may even prompt the return of Cougar Dave. GL to both. Should be a great game.

This will go a long way in determining how good is Pulaski!
Actually, it will be a measuring of both teams. A dominant performance will say a lot. A team that makes a big play to win a close one says a lot. But they've both already established themselves as good teams, both of which will most likely get to the playoffs. From there, you never know.

The biggest issues might be the weather. It is suppose to rain all week and on Friday. Patrick Henry plays on turf and my not be use to playing on grass and mud. Pulaski is more of a ball control offense and Patrick Henry is more of a spread. Should be an interesting game.

Should be a great game. I'm happy to see Pulaski having a good year because those kids and their fan base deserve it. I like Pulaski in this game, however I think PH is the only team left on Salem's schedule who can take the Spartans down with all due respect to Pulaski, but who knows in one of the biggest rivalry games in the state. Pulaski always plays Salem tough. But Friday I think Pulaski's defense holds up and beats PH 28-24. I think Pulaski is the most underrated team in 4a and it would be AWESOME to see them somehow grab one of the top 4 seeds come playoff time.

I don't think PC is underrated at all given the fact that even with the "soft" scheduling in the past they have struggled. They have certainly improved (for the better) with a change in mentality and philosophy from Jones to James and do have some good quality ball players but honestly PC every year has several good ball players but just were not used properly by Jones. The problem I see with getting to excited at this point is they have played only (1) competitive team so far that even has a winning record and that was North Side which by all accounts of what I have seen/read played a sloppy game with penalties/turnovers and I think may be a bit overrated themselves given the struggles they have had. The other teams PC has played to this point have only (1) win between them and the games left outside of PH and Salem the teams are not any better. This game with PH will certainly be some what of a measuring stick but if you look at the schedule as a whole there are only (3) quality games for PC this year with everyone else just simply really bad. They should be at worse 8-1 but more than likely will be 9-0 when they play Salem. So IMO it will not be known exactly how good PC is until playoff time. The wins so far are great but the "soft" scheduling does not prepare them or any team for more competitive type teams in the playoffs. I hope they will get back to playing a more competitive schedule at some point in order to regain some of the respect that has been lost over the last 4-5 years.

PH is a good team. IF PC wins, it's a good sign. If the game is decided in the 4th quarter, no matter who wins, it's a good sign. If PC gets drubbed, they're probably not more than a .500 team but considering where they've been, that's still a good thing for Cougar fans.

Well meathead, we play seven RR dist games which we are supposed to play and that includes 5A PH, The VHSL has also mandated we play 6A Franklin Co. so that leaves 2 games and Bassett is in conf 24 and the dates matched so we picked them up and the Northside game speaks for itself. Salem pretty much plays the same schedule so why are they not playing a "soft" schedule? you need to change your name to "negative ned."..

Pcken brings up a valid point. Salem and Pulaski both play A VERY similar schedule. Personally, I hate the mandatory scheduling. I understand you have to play teams in your district but it's really unfair to teams like GW (the whole district other than Magna Vista is just atrocious) and Salem (Carroll Co). They get absolutely nothing out of playing them and it kills rider points. I'd love to see the VHSL replace Conferences for Districts (wishful thinking). If Pulaski gets ridiculed for playing a soft schedule then GW should've been banned from postseason play 3 years ago lol

Don't forget that the GW schedule, because they are very good, also gets them a high seeding in the playoffs that almost guarantees them a game 13. Still, those rider points already have them lower in the Power Point standings than one would have thought but a tougher schedule may offset that with losses. So pick your poison.

For Pulaski, their overall schedule is not too dissimilar to what it has been in past years. Cougars have already had a good year, considering where they have recently come from.

Dave's still here, I just lurk in the shadows more now....lol.

I think field conditions will favor the Cougars. PH will make some big plays, but when the Cougars are physically strong we are a good match up with the Patriots. We are physically stronger than we've been in a while. Should be a great game. Sadly I will have to miss it, my first missed game in many years. The son is graduating from basic/AIT and that obviously get's priority.

GO COUGARS!!!

Shaunty I think the past 3 years GW's schedule has been atrocious and has really hurt them. The 2013 team was by far the most overrated team in GW's history. I think they were ranked as high as #3 that year. They barely beat Person Co (who is a doormat in NC football), barely beat EC Glass, barely beat Franklin County and Charlottesville (who were both below avg teams) and got slaughtered by Magna Vista (in the 2nd half) and your Cougars just dismantled them. I'm never the type to be bias, so I'll be the first to tell you that GW has a lot to prove to be state relevant. They used to play teams like Lake Taylor, Matoca, Page (a very good football program in NC), Battlefield, Durham Hillside (GOOGLE THE PLAYERS THEY'VE SENT TO MAJOR D1 SCHOOLS AND NFL), LC Bird, and Thomas Dale. Teams are leaning towards playing local schools and I think that has hurt high school football in our area and to throw in nobody wants to play GW makes it even worst. Unless you're playing Brookville, Salem, Heritage, or Northside (who are consistently good year in and year out) then it's hard to find competitive teams in the Danville area unless you go down to NC. I would much rather be 7-3, hell even 6-4, heading into the playoffs and having played a top notch schedule than be 10-0 or 9-1 playing cupcakes. Michigan State does it every year in Basketball. Lose 11 and 12 games during the regular season and ends up in the Final 4.

You are way TOO SENSITIVE "CUE BALL". I stated my opinion and you are certainly entitled to disagree.

RRD is even more down than usual, usually 6-7 teams make the playoffs This year they'll only have 3-4. Hidden Valley, Carroll County, & Cave Spring will work to stay out of the cellar. Christiansburg isn't much better. Blacksburg may be the 4th best team in the district with a good QB and WR's. They also have a great freshman RB if they use him. Salem, PH, and Pulaski are the top 3 order TBD.

I'd pay a little more attention to Blacksburg. New coach and a wide open offense. They seem to be getting better week by week. Could give some teams trouble.

Like I said I'm really impressed with Johnston and McCoy they've been good since Sophomore year. That freshman RB I saw him last year against ALMS very dangerous runner, he's #44 Terry, hopefully they are using him this year on Varsity. I know they have other WR can't think of their names but Johnston has good options. My one concern for them and I don't have any information, but how are their OL & DL?

saw them play Giles, they are pretty big up front on both sides. huge participation numbers for them. about 60 on varsity roster. Made a lot of first game mistakes that night, but sounds like they are getting more in sync with their new system. Now I'm not saying they've got anything for Salem, but could give everybody else in the district trouble. This could be a team to watch out for in the next couple of years.

Meatchop, im just sayin you seem to pull against PC and you seem to be from there. We need to get behind the new coach. he seems to have things going in the right direction.

You play your mandatory games and you schedule 3 games and you are not sure how those teams will stack up until you play them .
