Boy, I saw this coming weeks ago. Phoebus has been carrying a chip on their shoulder since that opening week loss to Lake Taylor 22-21. They knew that they let one slip away and they were not going to let it happened a second time around with Hampton. They are slowly starting to get some guys healthy. That defense was extremely fast and physical and played lights out. The two headed monster rushing attack of AJ Turner and Jalen White were very impressive today. Phoebus will be a serious factor come November. This looks more like the Phoebus teams of the past, however we still have a ways to go.

Good win but I also thought it would be a rout. Hampton just isn’t the old Hampton anymore. Their 3 wins are against 2 winless teams and a one win team. But Phoebus and Hopewell right now are the favorites in 3a. Lafayette had some work to do letting a 21-7 halftime lead evaporate to a 28-21 loss to a very talented York team. I’m hope we get a rematch- penalties and a turnover was the difference. Also unknown to most one our best Rb/dB was out the first three games and is scheduled to return this week. He is a senior who has a lot experience and is a burner in speed.

Exactly. Class 3A is going to be bananas this postseason. So many quality teams. Hampton realty isn't that bad. They have good athletes and an extremely mobile dual threat quarterback in Teddy Watson. Phoebus is still not quite as big as in the early 2000s but they just as quick and swarms to the ball as well as any team I've seen so far. Questionable playcalling in critical moments cost Phoebus dearly in that game against Lake Taylor. It shouldn't have even been a close game imho. Phoebus is much better and tougher than a season ago. Whether that translates into a state championship remains to be seen because Class 3A may very well be the toughest region to get out of in any region in any class.

I've always been a fan of the Phantom's program and their never give up attitude on the football field. They will just grind you to death and if the final score is 6-0 then Phoebus is good with that cause a win is a win no matter the margin of victory! In 2015 when Magna Vista came to play Phoebus in the semi's...MV was leading 21-0 and the celebrating started on the MV side...I knew that game was far from over, I've never seen a lead be enough against Phoebus! Classy program!

In 3A a team 9-1 or 8-2 may be a 5th seed and not even get one home game! I’ve never seen a region so loaded in one year- Hopewell, Phoebus, York, Lafayette, Norcom. Anyone one of these is capable of the big upset. Key to Lafayette will be HC Andy Linn coming out of his conservative play calling shell. With two division 1 TE prospects and a great receiver in an all state player transferred from King William, it’s run, run run and if a pass usually a deep ball, a few but not many short passes. Let’s see how everyone progress during the next 7 games. Playoffs will be brutal.

As a Phoebus fan I appreciate this post because it wasn't that long ago many (for good reasons) wouldn't put the word classy in the same sentence with the program. Head Coach Jeremy Blunt has done a great job in reshaping the image at Phoebus. It wasn't always easy but he's pulling it off. I am actually a fan of all football programs in Virginia. For years I thought that Virginia has been a strong football state with great talent and coaches everywhere. I remember Magna Vista showing so much class and sportsmanship after that game at Phoebus that I had made plans to go to the state championship the following week against Lord Botetourt but my wife wanted to go christmas shopping, so that killed that idea lol. I think Class 3 this year is as difficult as any Class in the state. I only wished that Hopewell and Petersburg remained in Cass 3B because that region is hurting for a dominant team.

Blunt is the man! Great person as well. I see him out all the time and we talk football and whats going on with the team. He truly cares about them young men and you can tell its more than football with him. This was a good game for him. I came to it and enjoyed the game. started kinda slow but picked up quickly. great DB plays and coverages except the one that dude got open on blown coverage. Im from Apppomattox and love my Raiders, but im in 757 now and a Phantom fan.
