Playoffs dates and times question.

Does the hosting school get to decide when the playoff game is held-such as Friday versus Saturday? Or does VHSL determine it?

Host team until regional Championship game and travel distance set by VHSL. I think this is correct if something hadn't changed

Through regions the host school decides unless it is predetermined such as region A always having their championship on Saturday. The state semis and State Championship games are controlled by VHSL.

But there is a thing with travel distance

Once upon a time there was such a thing as a 3 hour travel time making the difference between a Friday night and a Saturday afternoon game. But it would make sooo much more sense (and make the VHSL more money...hint hint!) if they allowed schools that were close to one another to schedule games at the most beneficial times. Take for example here in Augusta County......Riverheads will always choose to play on Friday night until the VHSL mandates that they play on Saturday. That is simply because you play football on Friday nights doggone it! But I think we all know that if the Gap at Draft game were to be played Saturday afternoon, more than a handful of Riverheads folks (myself probably included) would go to that game, thereby increasing the profits. So sometimes common sense should prevail.

Sussex would be 2 1/2 hours and Franklin is just under 3 hours so the second round is borderline if Franklin upsets Central Lunenburg but otherwise it’s Friday night lights in region B or so I would assume.
