Is GC as good as they have been the past two years?

At 26-3, it looks like Gate City might be the favorite again. You can just about pencil the Devils in to the state final most every year. Can't remember the last time they WEREN'T playing on the final day. Fantastic program. I chatted up a GC parent last season (his daughter had got a late season call-up as a freshman) and he said they still had some talent coming from the middle school and club. Bad news for everyone else. Perhaps Strasburg can give them a run.

Here's the schedules/results for GC and Battle this season. GC won the CMD title going undefeated in district play and against VA competition, all three losses to TN teams...two Sullivan South and one to Sullivan Central (who they had beaten twice in a tournament beforehand). Battle finished in a tie for 2nd in the CMD with Lee High. Lee won a play-off against Battle to get the 2nd seed in the district tourney, but Battle won the semifinal game against them (Lee ended up finishing fourth in the tourney).
