Rocktown Rolls Over Staunton...Did Anyone See That Coming?

Just saw the highlights on the news. Final score was 71-56. Brand new school playing its first ever game against an established powerhouse....certainly not what I expected to happen. I guess that means The Raptors will have a sport of choice, at least for this first year in operation.

Boys Basketball, Soccer and Track & Field will all be very competitive at the district and regional level this winter and spring. The hoopers(6 football players) have home/away OOD series' with Riverheads, Staunton, Western and Cville. 6 games in the first 16 days of the season including rival Harrisonburg on the 12/20. We've got two players over 6'1 but get up and down with 3/4 good ballhandlers. Coach T came from Spotswood, I'm very interested to see how much that match up goes. Spotswood clearly best team in Valley, won't be shocked if we're 2nd.

So is Rocktown actually playing a full district schedule? Since they didn't in football, I had expected the same to be true in basketball.

Rocktown gets after it. They play hard-lots of quick athletes. Would not be surprised if they finish 2nd in the valley.

Staunton is good but I think this is a down year for them. Will for sure compete to win the Shenandoah but they lost a lot. Obviously a program like that will always bounce back.
